Team Arsenault scored a game-high 16 goals as they defeated Team Read on Saturday evening, 16-10.

Captain Dempsey Arsenault, Taylor Cummings, and Sammy Jo Tracy each tallied hat tricks for their team, while Kenzie Kent and Kelly McPartland each added two goals each.

Alyssa Parrella scored a season-high four goals and Mollie Stevens scored her first hat trick of the season as Team Read was unable to overcome an 8-point deficit.

Take a look at the action from tonight’s game:

It’s no surprise three weeks in that Marie McCool is a threat on the field when she has the ball in her cross, and she proved that in the first 15 seconds of the game as she stepped and fired it into the net to put Team Read up 1-0. Similarly to how things began in the first game of the day between Team Wood and Team Ohlmiller, the opposing team had a quick answer. Team Arsenault tied things up 11 seconds later as McPartland tallied a goal of her own.

Before the first minute of the game was done, the score was 2-2 with no signs of slowing down. Parrella scored back-to-back goals for Team Read to give her team a 4-2 lead midway through the first. Team Arsenault tied things again as Cummings scored her second goal of the evening followed by a goal from Arsenault.

Kent gave Team Arsenault the lead on the rollback shot for her 10th goal of the season, and Halle Majorana secured the first quarter victory for 20 points as they entered the second quarter up 6-4.

Katrina Dowd and Mollie Stevens each scored goals for Team Read to bring them within one.

Kent and Grace Gabriel extended Team Arsenault’s lead in the second quarter, forcing captain Britt Read to sub herself out for Mira Shane. Stevens scored her third goal of the game for Team Read to have her first hat trick of the season and cut Team Arsenault’s lead to 8-7.

Team Arsenault continued its offensive feat, freezing Team Read’s defense as players drove to the net to tack on two more goals and make it 10-7.

There was no slowing them down to start the 3rd quarter. Team Arsenault built an 8-point cushion off goals from Arsenault, Tracy and Taylor Hensh, blanking Team Read’s offense in the third.

McCool ended the 12-minute scoring drought for Team Read as they started to climb their way out of the deficit. Three consecutive goals from Team Read, including two more from Parrella, cut the deficit to five.

But Team Read was unable to overcome the deficit in the fourth as Team Arsenault went on to win the game 16-10. However, Team Read earned 20 points for outscoring Team Arsenault 3-1 in the fourth quarter.

The victory pushed Arsenault, who had 183 points, into the No. 1 spot by one point over Kayla Wood. Cummings was named MVP 1 (+45) and accumulated 206 points on the night. Kent tallied 167 points, include MVP 2 honors (+30), and Tracy was named MVP 3 (+15) and had 158 points.
