Sydney Hilley reaches season high, leads Supernovas to 2-0 Week
Week Four of Major League Volleyball play featured an action-packed 8-game slate, and for the Omaha Supernovas, it was the perfect chance to boost their record after crawling out of a three-match losing streak last week.
As she guided the offense, Sydney Hilley dictated the pace and created opportunities for her hitters in Friday’s 5-set marathon match in San Diego.
Despite the Mojo capturing the first set, the Supernovas powered their way to a 28-26 Set 2 victory, rolled with that momentum in the third, and then recovered from a fourth-set stumble with a hard-fought fifth set that pushed both teams past the standard 15-point winning benchmark.
Hilley dished out 11 assists in the final frame before the Omaha squad snagged the 21-19 set win in the 3-2 (21-25, 28-26, 25-17, 20-25, 21-19) match victory, improving to a 4-3 season record.
Hilley’s go-to hitters were Brooke Nuneviller, who recorded 20 kills, 12 digs, 4 assists, and 3 aces, and Reagan Cooper, who racked up 23 kills, 17 digs, 2 blocks, and 1 assist. Meanwhile, Morgan Hentz anchored the defense with 17 digs, matching a team high.
Hilley’s final assists tally was 62, just shy of her MLV career high of 68 assists while playing for the Ignite in 2025.
Marlie Monserez guided the Mojo offense with 57 assists and added 12 digs. The Mojo suffered another setback later in the week with a 3-1 loss to Atlanta Vibe.
