Hentz, Pannoy and Guedpard to Compete in 2025 FIVB Volleyball World Championship
Three athletes set to compete in the 2025 Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball Championship will first test themselves on the global stage. Libero Morgan Hentz (USA), libero Piyanut Pannoy (Thailand), and setter Pornpun Guedpard (Thailand) are slated to play in the FIVB Women’s World Championship from Aug. 22 to Sept. 7 in Thailand.
For Hentz, the tournament comes after a strong summer with Team USA in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL). The Americans posted a 7-5 record in the preliminary rounds and reached the Finals, where they fell to world No. 1 Italy in the quarterfinals.
Now ranked No. 7 in the world, the U.S. will play Pool D matches in Nakhon Ratchasima:
- Aug. 22 vs. Slovenia
- Aug. 24 vs. Argentina
- Aug. 26 vs. Czechia
Pannoy and Guedpard, two of Thailand’s most decorated veterans, helped their national team survive a dramatic VNL campaign to stay in the competition’s elite division. Thailand entered its final match against Canada in last place and in danger of relegation, but clinched the two sets needed to edge out Korea and remain in the top tier for 2026. They went on to take the match in five sets, securing their future in the tournament.
The team will now turn their attention to Pool A in Bangkok, where they will face:
- Aug. 22 vs. Egypt
- Aug. 24 vs. Sweden
- Aug. 26 vs. Netherlands
After competing at Worlds, Hentz, Pannoy, and Guedpard will shift their attention to the AU Pro Volleyball Championship, which begins this fall in Madison, Wis., and Omaha, Neb. The 2025 AU Pro Volleyball Championship will feature 44 of the world’s top volleyball players in an exclusive, high-stakes tournament to determine the ultimate champion of the sport. Tickets for both locations are now available.
