McKenzie Forbes signs Training Camp Deal With Dallas Wings
McKenzie Forbes may still be wrapping up her first Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball season in Nashville, Tenn., but her next professional opportunity is right around the corner. The 6-foot guard has signed a training camp contract with the Dallas Wings and will soon make her way from Music City to the Lone Star State ahead of the 2025 WNBA season.
Forbes, who was drafted 28th overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks, has impressed in Nashville this season, averaging 4.7 points per game.
A standout at California-Berkeley during her freshman season, Forbes earned All-Pac-12 Freshman Honorable Mention honors. She transferred to Harvard in 2019 and became a key player for the Crimson, appearing in 56 games over her junior and senior seasons. She averaged 13.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game, earning Second Team All-Ivy League honors in 2021-22 and a spot on the Ivy League Madness All-Tournament Team in 2022-23.
Forbes moved to the University of Southern California for her graduate season, where she played an instrumental role in leading the Trojans to the 2024 Pac-12 Championship. Starting in all 35 games, she averaged 14.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while being named to the All-Pac-12 Team and earning Pac-12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors. She helped USC secure the conference title, and in the NCAA tournament, she recorded a career-high 36 points in a game against Long Beach State
After being drafted by the Sparks and waived in May 2024, Forbes joined the NBL1 South’s Waverley Falcons, helping lead the team to the NBL1 South Championship. Her performances there, along with a record-breaking 39-point game in the Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa league for Mainland Pouakai in New Zealand, further solidified her pro credentials.
Her signing with the Wings reunites her with Wings Executive Vice President and General Manager Curt Miller, who drafted her in Los Angeles, and Wings Head Coach Chris Koclanes, who was on staff at USC during her time there.
Forbes still has two matchups remaining in her debut season with AU. She is set to take the floor with Team Siegrist tonight and on Sunday, March 2, for the final weekend of the season at Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
