
Former Alabama Standout Aaliyah Nye Signs with AU Pro Basketball
Aaliyah Nye, one of the most prolific three-point shooters in college basketball history, is set to make her Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball debut in Season 5.
The 2025 WNBA Draft second-round pick (No. 13 overall) is in her rookie campaign with the Las Vegas Aces, where she has appeared in 35 games. Nye is averaging 4.4 points and 1.7 rebounds while showcasing the same range that defined her college career. She recorded a career-high 13 points in June against the Seattle Storm and added a personal best six rebounds this month against the Valkyries.
Nye spent her final three seasons at Alabama, where she became the program’s all-time leader in made three-pointers and closed with 1,739 career points. She set the Crimson Tide’s single-season record for made threes in back-to-back years, hitting 108 in 2023-24 before topping it with 109 in 2024-25. She ranked fourth nationally in makes from deep last season and set a school single-game record with nine at Florida on February 6. Her career-high 32 points came at Ole Miss on January 12, a game in which she also surpassed 1,500 career points. Nye was named Second Team All-SEC in 2024, scoring in double figures in 26 games during her senior season.
Before transferring to Alabama, Nye began her college career at Illinois, where she quickly stood out as a perimeter threat. She tied the Fighting Illini program record for three-pointers in a Big Ten game with seven against Wisconsin and scored a then-career-high 25 points against Ohio State. As a freshman, she led Illinois in three-point shooting percentage while averaging 8.1 points per game.
Known for her quick release and ability to stretch defenses, Nye is set to bring long-range firepower and steady production to AU. She will be part of a strong group of young talent set to take the court when the 2026 season tips off.
