AU Pro Softball recognized by Pitch In For Baseball & Softball

PIFBS began this award to recognize a donor or ambassador within the softball world who has made a significant contribution to the organization. AU Pro Softball athlete Aleshia Ocasio chose PIFBS as her Athlete Cause for the 2023 Championship season and because of her win bonuses as an athlete, funds were donated to PIFBS. Ocasio’s 2023 performance raised over $4,800 for PIFBS this year.

The Athlete Causes program, powered by Give Lively, provides AU athletes with a fundraising platform that allows them to donate funds equal to 100% of their season win bonus to support the causes they love.

Ocasio’s selection of PIFBS is because of their mission to reduce barriers to playing softball and the organization’s efforts to promote youth development. They provide equipment directly to leagues, schools, and organizations around the world to start, continue, and expand their programs.

“I love what PIFBS is doing to level the playing field and ensuring they reach as many kids as possible and equip them with the tools needed to play baseball and softball,” Ocasio said. “It’s expensive to play and equipment alone is a large barrier of entry. I’m proud to partner with them in and out of season and look forward to collaborating with them again in the future.”

Starting in 2021, PIFBS launched an annual award program to recognize the amazing donors, grantees, partners, and ambassadors that played an integral part in helping kids remain on the field. These awards highlight their exemplary work to help over 207,000 kids play ball in 2023.
