Marge Donovan

Personal: Donovan is a member of Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse’s Player Executive Committee. She is the daughter of Dan and Sheila Donovan and has an older brother. If she was not playing lacrosse, Donovan has stated that she would be an astronaut. She also has a springer spaniel named Carl. Additionally, she competed in basketball and soccer as a child, and her hobbies include spending time with her dog, hiking, reading, and computer-aided design.

2023 Season: Donovan closed her rookie season with 862 leaderboard points. She collected 16 ground balls with 12 caused turnovers while earning a starting assignment in 7-of-12 games. She posted a season-high three ground balls in back-to-back games against Team Apuzzo and Team Moreno to begin Week Two. Donovan also notched two ground balls in the first two games of the season against Team Mastroianni and Team Read. She recorded a season-high three caused turnovers against Team Moreno on July 29. Donovan posted four games with 100 or more leaderboard points, including a season-high 133 points in the Week Three opener against Team Bosco. In addition, she was one of 11 players selected in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse College Draft.

International Experience: Donovan has international experience, having helped Team USA win a Silver medal at The World Games in 2022. In five games, she registered four assists and four ground balls. Donovan was one of 12 players named to the Team USA roster for 2023 World Lacrosse Women’s Super Sixes Event. 

At Maryland: As a graduate student at Maryland, Donovan started 21 games and was named to the 2023 Tewaaraton Award Watch List. She recorded 24 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers.

At Princeton: Donovan was a four-year letter winner at Princeton from 2018-2022 before transferring to Maryland for the 2023 season. At Princeton, she finished her career as the school's single-game, single-season, and career leader in draw controls. She achieved 12 draw controls against Yale on May 8, 2022, and a program-record 112 draw controls as a senior, totaling 214 draw controls over 63 games. Donovan was a three-time All-Ivy League performer, earning First-Team as a senior, and was named 2022 Defender of the Year. She also received Third-Team IWLCA All-America distinction, Second-Team honors from Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine, and was honored as the 2022 Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player. During the COVID-19 shortened season in 2020, Donovan started all five games after appearing in all 20 games as a sophomore. She secured Honorable Mention All-Ivy League commendations during her freshman and sophomore seasons.
