Katrina Geiger
Biography
Personal: Geiger's greatest achievement was being inducted into the Haverford High School Hall of Fame. She joined the Drexel coaching staff as an assistant coach on July 27, 2022, after previously working as an assistant women's lacrosse coach and defensive coordinator at Penn State. Geiger also spent time at Georgetown and Elon. She graduated from Loyola in 2017 with a degree in communications and earned her Master's degree in emerging media in 2018. Geiger had her jersey number retired at Haverford High School after setting a school record with 320 career goals. She has a golden retriever named Hoagie and lists Loyola Maryland women’s lacrosse head coach Jen Adams as a person who has made a difference in her life. If Geiger was not playing lacrosse, she would be a lacrosse coach. She enjoys taking her dog to the beach and also competed in soccer, basketball, and swimming as a child. Geiger has worn No. 8 throughout her entire playing career.
2023 Season: Geiger registered 731 leaderboard points during the third Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse season. She started in 11 out of 12 games, grabbing 13 ground balls and collecting 10 caused turnovers. Geiger earned the MVP 2 distinction after tallying three ground balls with a season-high three caused turnovers against Team Apuzzo on July 20. She also recorded a season-high of four ground balls in the Week Three opener against Team Apuzzo, in addition to two ground balls. Furthermore, Geiger amassed 100 or more leaderboard points in three games, including a season-high of 122 points in the season opener against Team Apuzzo.
2022 Season: Geiger accumulated 844 leaderboard points and started 9 out of 12 games during the second Athletes Unlimited season. She recorded 16 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers, and 2 assists. Geiger had notable performances with three ground balls against Team Read in Week One and Team Apuzzo during Week Two, as well as three caused turnovers against Team Apuzzo on August 13 and two caused turnovers against Team Read on July 23.
2021 Season: Geiger earned 915 leaderboard points in 15 games. She tied for 10th place in the league with 10 caused turnovers, with a season-high of three against Team Cummings on August 16. Geiger also contributed with an assist against Team Wood on August 8 and achieved a season-high of 129 leaderboard points against Team Arsenault on August 14.
Other Professional Experience: Geiger's professional experience includes playing for the Philadelphia Fire in the 2018 Women's Professional Lacrosse League season. She also traveled with the WPLL in 2019 and competed against the Japanese All-Star Team.
At Loyola Maryland: Geiger was a six-year letter winner and appeared in 73 games from 2013-2018, scoring 34 goals and providing 29 assists. Geiger also accumulated 61 draw controls and 102 ground balls. She was a two-time Second-Team All-Patriot League selection in 2017 and 2018 and served as a team captain during her final season. Geiger redshirted during her sophomore year in 2014.
