Biography
Personal: Plaisance’s mother, DoBee, spent 15 seasons as the head women’s basketball coach at Nicholls State and compiled 174 victories, including 111 wins in Southland Conference play. Her brother, Scott, played at the University of New Orleans from 2017-18 after two seasons at Louisiana Lafayette. Plaisance majored in sports administration at LSU with a leadership concentration. She has two dogs named Chip and Yams and models her game after Nicola Jokic. She lists meeting Courtney Paris during Tulsa Shock training camp as a time when she was starstruck. Plaisance would be a business owner if she was not playing basketball and lists her parents as people who have made a difference in her life. Her hobbies include spending time with friends and family, traveling, eating great foods, playing board games, spending time with her dog, reading, and talking. As a child, she was involved in football, choir, volleyball, softball, bell choir, pottery, and Taekwondo. She is the co-host of “The Syd + TP Show” with fellow Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball player Sydney Colson. Her mother and brother also wore No. 55 during their playing careers.
2024 Season: Plaisance ended her second Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball season with 3,523 leaderboard points and authored a 4-1 record over the final five games. She appeared in 10 games with seven starts and averaged 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest. Plaisance grabbed 10 or more rebounds in a game four times, good for a share of fourth place in the league, and posted two double-doubles. She scored 14 points with 10 rebounds against Team Sims on March 2. Plaisance closed the season with a 13-point, 11-rebound performance against Team Cloud while gathering a season-high 533 leaderboard points. She tallied a season-high 15 points against Team Gray in the season opener by making 6-of-12 field goal attempts, including a 3-for-5 effort from three-point range. Plaisance dished out a career-high nine assists against Team Mitchell on March 16, along with grabbing 10 rebounds. She secured a career-high 12 rebounds in the Week Three finale against Team Cloud.
2023 Season: Plaisance finished her first Athletes Unlimited season in 12th place on the league leaderboard with 4,777 points. She accumulated 3,050 win points to share eighth place in the league with guard Evina Westbrook and forward Lydia Rivers. She ranked among league leaders with 1,577 stat points. Plaisance notched 300 or more leaderboard points in 9 out of 15 contests, including two outings with 500 or more points. She set her season high with 580 leaderboard points in the season opener against Team Sims. As a starter in 12 of 15 games, she averaged 11.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per outing. Plaisance established a new Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball single-season record with 22 blocked shots in 15 games, including four rejections against Team Hillmon on March 8. She ranked second in the league with 35 made three-point field goals and a .443 three-point field goal percentage. She was fourth in the circuit with 79 attempts from long range and eighth in the league with 55 defensive rebounds. Plaisance finished the season in ninth place on the league’s total rebounds list with 80 and was also ninth in the loop with 17 steals. She accrued nine double-digit scoring efforts, including a pair of 20-point performances. Plaisance scored a season-high 23 points on March 4 against Team Smith, making 10 of 16 shots from the field. She tied the Athletes Unlimited single-game record with six made triples as part of a 21-point performance against Team Smith on March 24. She narrowly missed a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds against Team Sims in the Week Two opener.
Other Professional Experience: Plaisance is a nine-year WNBA veteran after being drafted by Tulsa with the No. 27 overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft. She averaged 4.5 points and 3.0 rebounds over her 218-game career from 2014-2022. Plaisance started in 52 career contests, including a career-high 25 starts during the 2017 season with Dallas. She owns a 36.3 career field goal percentage while making 78.4 percent of her free throws. She helped the Las Vegas Aces win the 2022 WNBA title after appearing in 31 games with two starts. She averaged 4.0 points per contest while shooting 37.1 percent from the field. Plaisance spent her first six seasons with Tulsa/Dallas, appearing in 134 outings before being traded to Connecticut during the 2019 campaign. She averaged a career-best 7.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest in 2017. She saw action in 22 games with Connecticut before signing as a free agent with Washington in 2021. Plaisance started 11 of 31 games with the Mystics and registered a 6.4 scoring average. She also spent the 2021-22 season with Clarinos in Spain, appearing in 15 games while leading the team in scoring (16.1), rebounding, blocked shots, and three-pointers. She has also played in China and Turkey.
International Experience: Plaisance helped Team USA win the 2010 FIBA Americas U-18 Championship, averaging 7.8 points over five games. She also ranked second in the tournament field with nine blocked shots. She was named to the 2013 USA Women’s World University Games Team that won the Gold medal in Russia. Additionally, she participated in the 2011 USA Women’s U-19 World Championship Team trials.
At LSU: Plaisance was a four-year letter winner at LSU, where she started 63 of 123 games from 2010 to 2014. She earned All-Region 3 and Honorable Mention All-America status by WBCA in 2013. Plaisance was a two-time All-Southeastern Conference selection who finished her career with 1,293 points and 637 rebounds. She was also named to the 2013 SEC All-Defensive Team. She ranks 23rd on the Tigers’ career scoring list and 17th on the career rebounding ledger. Additionally, she is fifth in school history with 147 career blocked shots. Plaisance led LSU in scoring and rebounding as a junior and senior. She also paced the team with 85 blocked shots during the 2012-13 campaign, the fifth-highest mark in program history. She tied the LSU single-game record with nine rejections against Alabama on March 2, 2014. Plaisance led the SEC with a 17.0 scoring average during the 2012-13 season, becoming the fourth player in program history to pace the league in scoring. She was a member of three NCAA Tournament teams at LSU and was named Louisiana Sports Writers Association Player of the Year in 2013 and 2014. She was a candidate for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award and a member of the 2014 WBCA Good Works Team. Plaisance was recognized as an SEC Legend during the 2024 conference tournament.
