Biography
Personal: Peddy is the daughter of Lisa Peddy and Terrance Williams and has two brothers.
Other Professional Experience: Shey Peddy is a five-year WNBA veteran who has started 29 of her 116 career games. She was selected by the Chicago Sky with the No. 23 overall choice in the 2012 WNBA Draft. She owns career averages of 6.0 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. Peddy made her WNBA debut with Washington during the 2019 season, appearing in 15 games as a reserve. She split the 2020 campaign between Washington and Phoenix, seeing action in nine games with the Mystics before being signed by Phoenix for the remainder of the season. She made eight appearances with the Mercury and averaged 4.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per outing. Peddy posted a 5.4 scoring average with Phoenix during the 2021 campaign while earning a starting assignment in 5 of 32 games. She enjoyed the best season of her WNBA career in 2022 after boasting 9.9 points per game in Phoenix. She also started a career-best 24 games while guiding the Mercury to a 15-19 record. Peddy contributed 5.2 points per game in 18 appearances during the 2023 campaign. She has played overseas in Turkey and Latvia and also guided the London Lions to the 2023 Euro Cup title.
At Temple: Peddy spent the first two years of her college career at Wright State before transferring to Temple after the 2008-09 season. She played in 125 total games with 121 starts and accumulated 1,899 points during her college career while grabbing 553 rebounds with 456 assists. She was a four-time All-Conference selection, including three First-Team nods, and was the third player in Temple history to be selected in the WNBA Draft. She was honored as the 2011-12 Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. She earned Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Year recognition in both seasons at Temple, in addition to being named First-Team All-Philadelphia Big 5. Peddy received a spot on the Philadelphia Big 5 All-Defensive Team in both years with the Owls and was selected as the 2007-08 Horizon League Newcomer of the Year as a freshman at Wright State. She stands as Temple’s single-season leader with 104 steals during the 2010-11 campaign. Peddy is the only player in Temple history with 100 or more steals in a season, reaching the mark in both years. She also ranks 23rd on the Owls’ career scoring list with 1,045 points over two years and ranks 10th in Temple history with 206 steals. She also holds ninth place in Temple history with a .464 career field goal percentage and 128 made three-point field goals. She shot 79.8 percent from the free-throw line in two seasons at Temple, good for third in program history. Peddy led the Atlantic 10 in scoring during her final season at Temple with a 17.6 average and also ranked second in the league by registering 3.1 steals per game. She set a program record by making 77 three-pointers and matched the Temple single-game standard with 10 steals against Rhode Island. She paced the Owls with a 14.1 scoring average during the 2010-11 season.
At Wright State, Peddy was a Second-Team All-Horizon League pick as a sophomore who also garnered All-Defensive Team plaudits. She was a starter in 27 of 29 games who ranked second on the team by averaging 12.1 points per game. She also paced the Horizon League with 86 steals during her sophomore campaign. She opened her college career by earning a spot on the All-Horizon League First Team, in addition to the league’s All-Defensive Team. She averaged 16.7 points per contest while earning a starting assignment in 29 of 30 games. She shot a career-best 53.9 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from three-point range.
