Biography
Personal: Berger is the daughter of Todd and Mary Charlotte Berger. She graduated from Indiana with a bachelor’s degree in sports marketing and management.
Other Professional Experience: Berger was selected with the No. 7 overall pick by Indiana in 2023 WNBA Draft. She appeared in all 36 games as a reserve during her rookie season with the Fever. She averaged 4.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per outing. She shot 44.9 percent from the field while sinking 84.0 percent of her free throw attempts. She reached double figures in scoring five times, including season-high 15 points against New York on July 12, 2023 . Berger also grabbed a season-high seven rebounds in July 12 game against New York. She notched a pair of 14-point performances against Los Angeles (August 8) and Seattle (August 24).
International Experience: Berger led Team USA to the gold medal and perfect 6-0 record at 2021 AmeriCup. She averaged 5.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest. She shot 42.3 percent from the field in addition to 81.8 percent success rate at the free throw line. She scored 15 points with five rebounds and three assists in quarterfinal victory over Virgin Islands.
College Experience: Berger was a five-year letter winner at Indiana who started 118-of-148 games for the Hoosiers from 2018-23. She led the Hoosiers to 118 wins during her career, the most of any player in program history. She was a four-time All-Big Ten Conference selection, including First-Team notice in each of her final three seasons. She received Honorable Mention distinction on WBCA All-America Team four times and was a two-time Honorable Mention pick on Associated Press All-America Team. She was named a Top 10 Finalist for Cheryl Miller Award in 2021 and 2022. She was named a Second-Team College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honoree as a fifth-year senior. She was a member of the 2022 Big Ten All-Tournament Team. She ranks second in school history with 573 career assists and seventh in program history with 1,841 career points. She stands eighth on the Hoosiers’ career free throws made (359) and attempted (484) lists. She finished her career in 10th place on Indiana’s rebounding list with 752 caroms. She led the Hoosiers in scoring as a senior with 16.2 average. She also paced the squad in assists and steals during junior and senior seasons. She was a starter in 24 games as a senior who averaged 12.9 points and 5.8 assists per outing. She reached double figures in scoring 18 times, including a season-high 26 points against No. 6 Iowa. Berger collected three double-doubles while shooting 48.4 percent from the field. She started all 33 games as a senior and led the Hoosiers by averaging 16.2 and 4.7 assists per game. She netted 20 or more points eight times, including career-high 29 points against Michigan State on February 12, 2022. She earned the starting assignment in all 27 games during junior campaign. She contributed 15.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. She notched an NCAA-leading three triple-doubles in 2020-21 season to establish new Indiana career record. She fashioned seven games of 20 or more points as a junior. She was a starter in 30 games as a sophomore during COVID-shortened 2019-20 campaign. Berger ranked second on team with 13.1 scoring average while contributing 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per outing. She opened her career in 2018-19 season by appearing in 34 games with four starts. She averaged 5.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game as a freshman.
