Emily Engstler

Personal: Engstler is the daughter of Marilyn and William Engstler. She has one brother and one sister. She majored in communications and rhetorical studies at Syracuse. 

Other Professional Experience: Engstler was selected by the Indiana Fever with the No. 4 overall pick in 2022 WNBA Draft. She has appeared in 47 games over two WNBA seasons with six starts. She started her career by playing in 35 games with Indiana, including six starts. She averaged 5.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game as a rookie. She registered four double-digit scoring efforts, including a season-high 18 points against Washington on August 12, 2022. Engstler also reached double figures in scoring during three consecutive games from May 22-27, 2022. She saw action in 12 games off the bench for Minnesota in 2023, averaging 1.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per outing. She netted a season-high nine points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field against Dallas on July 12, 2023. She also played for Flammes Carolo Basket in France following the 2022 WNBA season. 

International Experience: Engstler guided Team USA to a Silver medal at the 2022 FIBA 3x3 U-23 World Cup in Romania. She also played for the United States National Team at the 2021 FIBA 3x3 U-23 Nations League in France, leading Team USA to a 5-3 record.

College Experience: Engstler played three seasons at Syracuse before completing her college career at Louisville in 2021-22. She appeared in 116 total games during her career and scored 1,061 points with 936 rebounds. She was a semifinalist for 2012-22 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award with the Cardinals. She earned an Honorable Mention All-America selection by the Associated Press. She also collected First-Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference distinction in addition to receiving ACC All-Defensive Team notice. She was a starter in all 34 games as a senior who averaged 11.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per contest. Engstler was a member of the 2022 NCAA Wichita Regional All-Tournament Team. She started 36-of-82 games over three seasons at Syracuse, averaging 8.0 points and 7.5 points per game with the Orange. She also tallied 120 blocked shots. She was co-recipient of the 2020-21 ACC Sixth Player of the Year award after averaging 10.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. She fashioned 12 double-digit scoring games while posting seven double-doubles. She started all 31 games during her sophomore season and paced the Orange with 286 rebounds and 50 blocked shots. She ranked second on Syracuse squad with 35 blocks as a freshman while posting five double-digit scoring efforts.
