Biography
Personal: Nye is the daughter of James Nye and LaQueena Douglas. Her father played football at Albion College. She is one of four children in her family and is a tribal citizen of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians (Gun Lake Tribe).
Other Professional Experience: She was the No. 13 overall selection in the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Las Vegas Aces. Nye appeared in all 44 games with two starts and contributed 3.8 points with 1.5 rebounds per contest. She shot 31.4 percent from three-point range and logged six double-digit scoring efforts, including a season-high 16 points at Phoenix on June 29. She shot 5-for-7 from three-point range while leading the Aces to a three-point victory in that game.
At Alabama and Illinois: Nye was a three-year letter winner at Alabama after starting her college career at Illinois. She amassed 1,739 total points with 358 rebounds and 162 assists. She shot 42.9 percent from the field during her career, including 41.8 percent from three-point range. She was a starter in 93-of-97 games over three seasons at Alabama, scoring 1,260 points and grabbing 238 rebounds with the Crimson Tide. She owns Alabama single-season and career records for three-point field goals made. Nye was a starter in all 33 games as a graduate student who averaged 15.2 points per game. She led the Southeastern Conference and ranked fourth in NCAA Division I with 109 made three-pointers during the 2024-25 season. She set the Alabama single-game record by making nine three-pointers at Florida on February 6, 2025, and netted a career-high 32 points in a victory at Ole Miss on January 12, 2025. She was a Second-Team All-SEC performer in 2023-24 who ranked third in NCAA Division I with 108 made three-pointers. She netted 28 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field, including 8-for-13 from three-point range, against Mississippi State on February 25, 2024. She knocked down 45.1 percent of her three-point attempts to rank second in the SEC during her first season at Alabama. Nye earned a starting assignment in 35-of-45 games during two seasons at Illinois, scoring 10.6 points per game for the Fighting Illini. She was an Honorable Mention selection on the 2022 All-Big Ten Conference Team by the league’s media and coaches. She appeared in 27 games as a sophomore with 25 starts, leading Illinois with a 12.4 scoring average while sinking 36.9 percent of her three-point tries. She saw action in 18 games as a freshman with 10 starts, averaging 8.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per outing during her rookie season.
