Jenna Rosenthal
Biography
Personal: Rosenthal majored in engineering at Marquette and has one younger brother. Growing up, she was a multi-talented athlete and student, competing in track and field and participating in theatre, choir, musicals, robotics club, and student council. In addition to her athletic and academic pursuits, she enjoys traveling, reading, and attending live music events. If she weren’t playing volleyball, she says she would have pursued a career as a heptathlete. She has a cat named Marconi and credits her high school track coach, Ed Hammer, as someone who has made a significant impact on her life. Jenna wears No. 16, playfully noting that "it’s what the cool girl wears."
2023 Season: Rosenthal is a second-year Athletes Unlimited Volleyball veteran who claimed 12th place in the final league standings with 2,657 leaderboard points. She ranked sixth in the league with 1,620 win points and served as a team captain during Week Three. Rosenthal saw action in 44 sets over 15 matches and collected 19 solo blocks. She tied for fourth among the league's middle blockers with 19 block assists and added 93 kills with 43 digs. Rosenthal ranked second in the league with a .344 hitting percentage. She posted a season-high of nine kills in four different matches and earned MVP 2 honors in the season finale against Team Hentz after notching nine kills with three digs and three total blocks. Rosenthal also tallied nine kills with a .500 hitting percentage against Team Linnehan on November 5 and fashioned a season-high .600 hitting percentage with nine kills and no attack errors in 15 attempts against Team Hilley in the Week Two finale. She amassed 100 or more leaderboard points in 12-of-15 matches, including eight outings with 200 or more points, and participated in the Athletes Unlimited Volleyball Exhibition Tour.
2022 Season: Rosenthal showcased her exceptional abilities as a member of the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Volleyball Dream Team. Throughout the season, she played a pivotal role in all 15 matches, participating in every one of the 45 sets. Her contributions earned her 2,348 leaderboard points during her debut AU season, featuring five matches where she amassed 200 or more points. Her standout performance included ranking third in the league with 26 blocks, accomplishing a season-high of three rejections in four different matches. Notably, she recorded a remarkable 16 kills on April 8 against Team De La Cruz, and her impressive .591 hitting percentage in that match led her to earn MVP 2 honors while accumulating 306 leaderboard points. Her versatility extended to an exceptional nine kills and 17 attack attempts in the Week Four opener against Team Drews. In addition, she secured MVP 3 honors after contributing eight kills, two blocks, and two digs in a victory over Team Cruz during Week One. Her remarkable performance in that match featured a .533 hitting percentage with no attack errors in 15 attempts. Her remarkable AU journey commenced with the season opener against Team De La Cruz, where she hit .714 with five kills on seven attempts and added three blocks to lead her team to victory. A consistent performer, Rosenthal tallied 200 or more leaderboard points in three consecutive matches from March 18 to March 23.
Other Professional Experience: Rosenthal played professionally in Germany and Finland. She played Columbus Fury during the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation season in 2024. She appeared in 22 sets and registered 23 kills with nine blocks.
International Experience: Rosenthal won a gold medal with Team USA at the Pan American Cup.
At Marquette: Rosenthal was a three-time AVCA All-East Region honoree. She earned First-Team All-BIG EAST distinction as a sophomore, junior, and senior. She was also named to the 2017 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. Rosenthal left a lasting legacy at Marquette, becoming the program's all-time leader with 474 assisted blocks and 532 total blocks. She ranks 11th in program history with 1,110 career kills and holds the second-place position on Marquette's career hitting percentage list with an impressive .346. Her dedication extended beyond the court as she was a three-time selection to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team.
