Biography
Personal: Fairs is a member of Athletes Unlimited Volleyball’s Player Executive Committee. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where her passion for the sport was nurtured. Outside of volleyball, Fairs enjoys shopping, watching Netflix shows, and playing pickleball. Her athletic journey began with involvement in basketball, cheerleading, and track and field as a child. She lists college coach Anne Kordes as someone who has made a difference in her life.
2023 Season: Fairs secured 1,625 leaderboard points during the third Athletes Unlimited Volleyball season. She appeared in 28 sets over 11 matches and registered 70 digs with 45 kills and a .195 hitting percentage. Fairs closed the season with 10 or more digs in four of the final six matches. She authored a double-double with a season-high 10 kills and season-high 11 digs against Team Edmond in the season finale. Fairs also matched her season high with 11 digs in back-to-back outings against Team Edmond (October 29) and Team Hilley (October 30). In Week Two against Team Hentz, she notched seven kills with a .462 hitting percentage. Fairs registered nine matches with 100 or more leaderboard points, including a season-high 259 points against Team Edmond in Week Four. Additionally, she participated in the Athletes Unlimited Volleyball Exhibition Tour.
2022 Season: In the course of her second season with Athletes Unlimited, Fairs displayed her prowess in 42 sets, accumulating 2,704 points which positioned her in 10th place on the leaderboard. She showcased her reception skills by leading the league with 377 reception attempts over 15 matches. A standout performance came in the Week Two opener against Team Valentin-Anderson, where she achieved a season-high of 45 reception attempts. Further underlining her reception skills, she registered 41 attempts in the March 25 match against Team Stivrins. Impressively, she engaged in six matches with 30 or more reception attempts. Erin Fairs' contribution extended to defensive play, ranking seventh in the league with 159 digs. Notably, she recorded nine double-digit dig efforts, six of which were accomplished in the final seven matches. Her offensive prowess was showcased with 118 kills, earning her the eighth position in the league. Additionally, she held the seventh spot on the league leaders list with 385 attack attempts. Throughout the season, she consistently secured 200+ leaderboard points in a match, achieving this feat seven times. Five of these instances occurred in the final 10 outings. Notably, she achieved a career-high 330 points in the Week Two opener against Team Valentin-Anderson on March 23. Fairs showcased her versatility by achieving back-to-back double-doubles against Team Drews on April 2 and April 6. Week Three concluded with 11 kills and 12 digs, setting the stage for the following week where she contributed 10 kills along with 16 digs and 258 leaderboard points. Her exceptional performance was acknowledged with MVP 1 honors in the Week One finale against Team De La Cruz, where she accrued 254 leaderboard points in addition to 15 digs and nine kills. A notable defensive display was witnessed in the match against Team Stivrins on March 25, where she set a career high with 19 digs alongside six kills.
2021 Season: During the 2021 season, Erin Fairs participated in 11 of the 15 matches, contributing across 24 sets. Her impact was evident as she accumulated 1,279 points, securing her the 39th position on the leaderboard. Notably, she achieved season highs with 12 kills and 13 digs against Team Larson on March 7. Her contributions began with seven digs and four kills against Team Clark in the season opener. She continued to showcase her defensive skills with five digs against Team Edmond on March 8.
Other Professional Experience: Following her collegiate career, Erin Fairs took her volleyball talents abroad, playing professionally in various countries, including Sweden, Turkey, Puerto Rico, Romania, Italy, and Greece. Most recently, she played for Valencianas de Juncos in Puerto Rico.
At Louisville: Fairs's college journey included transferring to Louisville after her first three seasons at South Florida. She earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection as a senior, leading the Cardinals to a conference title.
At South Florida: Fairs's collegiate achievements extended to her time at USF, where she was a three-time All-Conference selection. She was named the 2013 American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and First-Team All-AAC after leading the league with 429 kills. Fairs showcased her versatility, leading the Bulls in points, kills, and digs during her sophomore campaign, earning Honorable Mention All-Region notice and a spot on the All-AAC First Team. Her accomplishments continued with the 2012 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and Second-Team All-BIG EAST recognition, leading the Bulls with 316 kills while adding 313 digs. Fairs also claimed First-Team All-AAC recognition during her junior season at USF after tallying 489 kills and 481 digs. Her impressive stats include ranking eighth in USF history with 1,234 kills in three seasons and fourth in USF history with 1,301 career digs.
