Amanda Lorenz
Biography
Personal: Lorenz is a member of Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball's Player Executive Committee. She is married to Clemson baseball assistant coach Griffin Mazur. Lorenz served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Florida softball team during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. She lists her former coaches Tim Walton and Mike Stith as people who have made a difference in her life. Lorenz enjoys spending time with her Goldendoodle named Blue and taking him for walks. She describes herself as a ranch connoisseur and softball nerd.
2023 Championship Season: Lorenz completed her third Championship Season in 14th place by compiling 1,418 leaderboard points. She ranked sixth in the league with 378 stat points while also collecting 980 win points. Lorenz led the league with a .478 batting average and a .579 on-base percentage. She reached base safely in 14-of-15 games and also finished the season with a league-high 22 hits, including 18 singles. Lorenz registered eight multi-hit games, including a pair of three-hit performances, and contributed two doubles, a triple, and a home run. She ranked second in the league with 29 total bases and third in the league with a .630 slugging percentage. Lorenz was one of six players in the league to hit a triple and was second in the circuit with 11 walks. She registered at least one hit in 12-of-15 contests, including the final five games in a row. Lorenz closed the season with four multi-hit games in her final five outings. She was honored as a Game MVP twice in Week Five, securing MVP 3 recognition against Team Alexander on August 25, going 3-for-4 with a double, triple, and two runs scored. Lorenz claimed MVP 2 honors against Team Flippen on August 27 with a two-hit performance while driving in two runs. She collected three hits against Team Garcia on August 5 and ended Week One with a 2-for-2 performance against Team McCleney, including a solo home run.
2023 AUX Season: Lorenz secured 11th place in the final league standings with 968 leaderboard points, which included 600 win points and 328 stat points. She earned MVP 3 recognition on June 18 in Team Filler's 8-2 victory over Team Taylor, and also after Team Filler's 7-2 win over Team Leach on June 21. Lorenz was a starter in all 10 games and had a .412 batting average. She tied for third in the league with 14 hits, including six doubles, which set a new single-season record. Lorenz also hit three home runs and had 11 runs batted in and six walks. She closed the season with a six-game hitting streak, which included four multi-hit outings. Lorenz collected a season-high three hits in a June 14 game against Team Mulipola, with two runs scored and a pair of doubles. She drove in a season-high three runs against Team Taylor on June 18. Lorenz also slugged a home run in back-to-back games against Team Leach on June 21 and Team Warren on June 24.
2022 Championship Season: Lorenz finished in ninth place on the leaderboard with 1,514 points. She also ranked ninth in the league with 384 stat points. Lorenz was one of three players in the league with 200 or more MVP points. She started in 13 games and hit .300 with three home runs and 14 runs batted in. Lorenz had four multi-hit games, including a season-high three hits against Team Chidester on August 13. She went 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored, earning 168 leaderboard points. Lorenz registered a season-high 256 leaderboard points after going 2-for-3 with a triple and a home run, three runs scored, and six runs batted in against Team Chidester on August 20. She closed the season with 100 or more leaderboard points in seven of the final eight games.
2022 AUX Season: Lorenz finished in 20th place on the leaderboard with 886 points. She started in all 12 games and hit .308 with 12 hits, including a double and two home runs. Lorenz also drove in five runs while scoring nine times. She ranked second in the league by drawing seven walks. Lorenz tallied at least one hit in 8-of-12 games, including back-to-back three-hit performances against Team Eberle on June 13 and Team Chidester on June 14. She hit a solo home run against Team Fischer in the Series Two opener on June 18 and also had a solo home run against Team Fischer during the June 23 doubleheader.
2021 Championship Season: Lorenz earned 11th place in the leaderboard standings with 1,404 points. She was eighth in the league with 364 stat points and also tied for fifth with 140 MVP points. Lorenz was one of three outfielders named to the inaugural Athletes Unlimited Softball All-Defensive Team. She hit .235 while starting 14-of-15 games, posting 14 hits, seven for extra bases. Lorenz drove in a league-best 16 runs, was second in the league with 51 at-bats, and scored 10 runs to tie for eighth in Athletes Unlimited. She tied with Ali Aguilar for second in the league with five home runs and drew eight walks while compiling 29 total bases.
International Experience: Lorenz competed in the 2018 USA Softball International Cup, where she posted a .200 batting average with one home run and four runs batted in for Team USA. She also participated in the 2018 Japan All-Star Series and was a member of the 2016 USA Women’s Elite Team and 2018 USA Blue roster. Lorenz competed for Team USA at The 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Ala., helping the team win a gold medal by hitting .294 (5-for-17) with a double and a run batted in. She opened the tournament with back-to-back two-hit performances against Italy and Chinese Taipei. Lorenz also guided Team USA to a gold medal at the 2022 Pan American Championships, hitting .625 during round-robin play with three doubles and six runs scored. She went 3-for-4 with a triple and a home run against Canada in the gold medal game victory, driving in four runs, and added two hits and two RBI against Cuba in the semifinal win.
Other Professional Experience: Lorenz was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2019 NPF Draft by the USSSA Pride and helped the team win the Cowles Cup during her rookie campaign.
At Florida: Lorenz was a four-year letter winner at Florida who started all 260 games from 2016-19. She finished her career with a .406 batting average, 40 home runs, and 192 runs batted in. Lorenz tallied 294 hits for the Gators, including 59 doubles and 12 triples, while scoring 245 runs. She was a finalist for the 2018 Collegiate Women Sports Award presented by Honda, named 2018 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, and claimed NFCA and SEC Freshman of the Year recognition in 2016. Lorenz was a four-time NFCA All-America performer who was named to the First Team as a sophomore, junior, and senior. She earned First-Team All-Region and All-SEC distinction all four years and was selected as Most Valuable Player of the 2018 SEC Tournament. Lorenz garnered SEC All-Defensive Team commendation at first base during her senior season. She holds Florida career records in batting average, on-base percentage, doubles, and walks. Lorenz also ranks second in school history with a .995 fielding percentage, 223 hits, and 507 total bases, while her 248 career runs scored stand third on the all-time list. She owns four of the top 10 single-season batting averages and walk totals in program history and set school records with a .582 on-base percentage and 70 walks during her junior campaign. Lorenz scored 75 runs in 2018, which are tied for second on Gators’ single-season list.
