With the opening round of the 2026 Volleyball Nations League quickly approaching, USA Volleyball’s Red vs. Blue scrimmage gave athletes one of the final opportunities to make a case for a spot on the shortened round one VNL roster.

The scrimmage was held Wednesday night at Mira Costa High School, giving fans in Southern California an early look at the group competing for spots on the U.S. Women’s National Team roster before international competition begins in less than two weeks.

USA Volleyball also added six athletes to the event roster who were not previously included on the preliminary VNL roster: Haleigh Washington, Lauren Briseño, Charlie Fuerbringer, Andi Jackson, Bergen Reilly, and Kari Knotts.

Several Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball players were included on the roster, including 2025 AU Champion Jordan Thompson, Micha Hancock, Morgan Hentz, Claire Hoffman, and Molly McCage.

The roster featured a mix of Olympic veterans, experienced pros, and rising standouts as Team USA continues building depth following the Paris Olympic cycle. Jordyn Poulter, Dana Rettke, Chiaka Ogbogu, Lexi Rodriguez, and Logan Eggleston were among the athletes participating in the scrimmage.

The 2026 VNL features 18 of the top national teams in the world competing across three preliminary-round stops this summer. Team USA opens play in Quebec City from June 3-7 before traveling to the Philippines and later to Osaka to close preliminary-round competition.
