Recap: McCool nets hat trick as Team Bosco defeats Team Glynn, 10-8

SPARKS, Md. — In its shootout loss against Team Apuzzo on Saturday afternoon, Team Bosco nearly finished a second half comeback to secure the win. In a similar situation against Team Glynn on Sunday, Team Bosco made sure to complete the task.

Team Bosco used a trio of multi-goal efforts to surge ahead after the break and hand Team Glynn a 10-8 setback to open the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse twinbill at USA Lacrosse Headquarters.

The win elevated Team Bosco’s record to 2-1 while Team Glynn ends the penultimate week of the season with a 1-2 mark.

Midfielder Marie McCool led the offensive charge for Team Bosco in the victory, scoring two of her three goals during a pivotal third quarter to collect MVP 1 honors. The former North Carolina star also added an assist, a ground ball and two draw controls to end the afternoon with 150 leaderboard points.

Defender Abby Bosco, completing her first week as a captain, followed with the MVP 2 distinction after posting four ground balls with two caused turnovers and two draw controls. Bosco authored 143 points in her final game of the series.

Attacker Kenzie Kent completed the MVP trifecta after scoring two goals, including a two-pointer, with a ground ball and a draw control to claim 118 points.

Goalkeeper Britt Read made seven saves in the victory for Team Bosco, which held a 31-26 advantage in shots.

Attackers Kylie Ohlmiller and Lauren Gilbert each fashioned three goals in the loss for Team Glynn, while goalkeeper Kady Glynn made 10 saves.

KEY MOMENT

Trailing by a 5-4 margin at the intermission, Team Bosco used a five-point third quarter, including two goals from McCool and a Kent two-point marker, to take a 9-7 lead it did not relinquish.

LEADERBOARD IMPACT

Glynn and Bosco remain in contention for a captain’s spot in Week Four after closing play in third and fourth places, respectively, in the league standings. McCool elevated her standing by eight spots, while Read holds fifth place with 908 points.

  • Team Bosco and Team Glynn combined to tally five assists in Sunday’s first game, upping the league’s season total to 112 assists through 17 games … Aspiration is committed to planting 10 trees for every assist this season as part of its ‘Aspiration Assists’ initiative.

  • Team Glynn owned a 14-7 edge in draw controls over Team Bosco.

  • The Blue jersey lost for the eighth time in nine games this season.

  • Attacker Livy Rosenzweig has scored a goal in five consecutive games after her marker in the second quarter.
