Orlando Valkyries’ middle blocker Kaz Brown is on fire. After leading her team to a clean sweep this past week, she was named to the Pro Volleyball Federation’s first All-Star match. She also was named a finalist for the 2024 Civic Leadership Award for Athletes Unlimited, marking an incredible start to her year.

Brown has been a dominant force in the middle from day one. The 6’4 University of Kentucky alum is no stranger to accolades; she holds the career blocks record in the Wildcat’s 25-point scoring era, ranks second in career block assists, and sits second in career hitting percentage. Remarkably, she led the Wildcats in blocks as a freshman, a rare feat given the transition from club to the collegiate level. Most coaches consider that adjustment one of the toughest in the game, but Brown made it look effortless.

The reigning 2024 PVF Middle Blocker of the Year continues to raise the bar, helping the Valkyries climb to third place in the league standings. Her dominance was on full display last week with 19 kills on a .376 hitting percentage, five blocks, four digs, and three aces in key wins over the Atlanta Vibe and Indy Ignite. Her blocking doesn’t just stop opponents, it creates attacking opportunities for her teammates and herself. Even when her blocks aren’t terminal, her controlled and positive touches allow her to transition smoothly, get deep enough for a strong approach, and read the defense to find scoring opportunities.

What sets Brown apart is her ability to track hitters, elite vision, and timing. She reads the game a step ahead, positioning herself perfectly to cut off angles and force opponents into tough shots. Her last-second adjustments keep opposing hitters guessing, often resulting in a stuff block or forcing teams to scramble for coverage.

With these intangible skills, it’s no surprise she was selected for the 2025 PVF All-Star Match, earning a spot on the 24-player roster through fan votes, coach selections, and league staff evaluations. The nationally televised event on CBS saw over 10,000 fan votes, with coaches and analysts recognizing Brown’s impact on the court.

Whether you’re looking for defensive dominance or offensive preciseness, Brown delivers.

Brown and the Orlando Valkyries will face the Columbus Fury on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 7  p.m. ET live on YouTube. While Columbus doesn’t feature any AU Pro Volleyball players, Orlando boasts four standout athletes to watch.

Orlando Valkyries:

  • Kaz Brown
  • Brittany Abercrombie
  • M’Kaela White
  • Lindsey Vander Weide
