Trinity McPherson
Biography
Personal: McPherson is the daughter of James and Rebecca McPherson. Her father competed on the track and field team at the United States Military Academy. She is one of three children in the family, and her sister, Madison, played lacrosse at Johns Hopkins. McPherson graduated from Johns Hopkins in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She worked in public relations with cybersecurity firm CynergisTek from 2021-22 while also volunteering as an AmeriCorps service member. Her hobbies include snowboarding, traveling, and hiking. She also competed in soccer, basketball, and track and field during her high school career and set International School of Manila records in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 400-meter dash. McPherson lived in the Philippines for the final two years of high school.
2024 Season: McPherson was one of 16 players selected in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse College Draft.
At Denver: McPherson was a two-year letter winner at Denver after transferring from Johns Hopkins. She earned starting assignments in 38-of-43 games for the Pioneers, scoring six goals with nine assists in two seasons and collecting 102 ground balls. She also ranks ninth in Denver history with 146 career draw controls and notched 77 caused turnovers. McPherson was an IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse Second-Team All-America performer and was honored as the 2024 Big East Defensive Player of the Year after guiding Denver to a conference title. She also received Honorable Mention All-America accolades from USA Lacrosse Magazine and was a member of the 2024 IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region First Team. McPherson's season-high 11 draw controls came against Villanova in the Big East semifinals, and she tallied five caused turnovers at Northwestern on March 8, 2024. In 2023, she was a consensus Second-Team All-America selection after leading the Pioneers to the NCAA semifinals. McPherson was one of four players in the nation with at least 50 ground balls and 50 draw controls during the 2023 campaign. She ranked third in NCAA Division I with 61 ground balls and was second on the team with 62 draw controls, as well as notching 39 caused turnovers to rank third on the squad.
At Johns Hopkins: Before her transfer to Denver, McPherson competed for four seasons at Johns Hopkins from 2018-21. She was a starter in 40-of-41 games for the Blue Jays, tallying 82 ground balls and 55 caused turnovers. McPherson claimed Third-Team All-America plaudits from USA Lacrosse Magazine as a senior and received Honorable Mention All-America recognition from Inside Lacrosse. She was a First-Team All-Big Ten Conference selection and led the Blue Jays with 29 caused turnovers while adding 38 ground balls.McPherson started in six games during the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign. She finished with 11 ground balls and six caused turnovers. She also registered two caused turnovers against Loyola in the 2019 season opener before missing the rest of the year with an injury. McPherson anchored a Johns Hopkins defensive unit that ranked second in the Big Ten with a 10.52 goals against average during her freshman season. She started all 19 games as a rookie. Additionally, she was a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar pick. She also received Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2020 and 2021.
