Cassidy Spilis
Biography
Personal: Spilis's father, Steve, played soccer at Drexel from 1986-90. Her mother, Cherie, was an All-America lacrosse player at Millersville University who ranks second in school history with 174 career goals from 1987-90. Her mother also competed on the field hockey team at Millersville and also played soccer in high school.
2024 Season: Spilis was one of 16 players selected in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse College Draft.
At Rutgers: Spilis was a five-year letter winner at Rutgers, starting all 81 career games from 2020-24. She finished her career as the Scarlet Knights’ all-time leader with 266 goals, 281 points, and 313 draw controls. Spilis also holds the Rutgers single-season record with 74 goals during the 2024 campaign after registering 17 multi-goal efforts, including 15 hat tricks. She was a four-time All-Big Ten Conference First-Team selection and a unanimous choice as the 2022 and 2024 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year by the league’s head coaches. Spilis was also a member of the 2024 IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse All-America First-Team. Additionally, she was a Second-Team All-America pick by USA Lacrosse Magazine during her final season at Rutgers and received a spot on the 2024 IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region First-Team. She earned Third-Team All-America honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine as a senior after scoring 47 goals with four assists in 17 outings and claimed Honorable Mention All-America notice from Inside Lacrosse in 2023. Spilis set the Rutgers single-season record with 69 goals as a junior to earn consensus All-America distinction. She received IWLCA First-Team All-America accolades in addition to Second-Team notice from USA Lacrosse Magazine and Inside Lacrosse. Spilis posted 49 goals with three assists as a sophomore to collect Third-Team IWLCA All-America status in addition to garnering Honorable Mention All-America recognition from Inside Lacrosse. She joined Meghan Ball as the first Rutgers player to earn All-America honors since 2007. Spilis paced the Scarlet Knights with 26 goals and 33 draw controls during the COVID-shortened freshman season and produced multiple goals in all nine contests as a rookie.
