Amy Moreau
Biography
Personal: Moreau is the daughter of Jennifer and Bill Moreau. Her sister, Anna, was a member of the rowing team at William Smith College. Moreau earned her bachelor’s degree in sport management at Massachusetts and also received her master’s degree in business analytics. She was a three-sport athlete in high school, competing on soccer and indoor track and field teams. Moreau also competed on the outdoor track and field team as a senior in high school while playing lacrosse. Her hobbies include hiking, reading, going to the beach, skiing, exploring new coffee shops, and spending time with friends and family. Moreau has a dog named Roger and lists UMass women’s lacrosse coach Jana Drummond and high school coaches Erin Lloyd and Marcus Labombard as people who have made a difference in her life. She would be a teacher if she was not playing lacrosse and competed in soccer and track and field growing up.
2023 Season: Moreau earned 26th place during her rookie season after accumulating 915 leaderboard points. She scored seven goals with three assists while starting 9-of-12 games. Moreau notched two-goal efforts against Team Read in her professional debut on July 20 and against Team Read on July 29. She tallied a goal in three of her final five games, including back-to-back contests to end Week Three. Moreau posted 100 or more leaderboard points in 6-of-12 games.
International Experience: Moreau has gained international experience as a member of the United States training team for The 2022 World Games in Birmingham, Alabama.
At UMass Amherst: Moreau played for the University of Massachusetts for five years. She started 71 out of 79 games and made a name for herself as a midfielder. She scored 55 goals and provided 21 assists throughout her time at UMass. Moreau is also known for her defensive skills, as she ranks sixth in school history with 74 caused turnovers. She ended her career at UMass with 151 draw controls, placing her fifth on the school's all-time list. In 2023, she was honored as the Atlantic 10 Conference Midfielder of the Year and was selected for the First-Team All-Atlantic 10. She was also named to the IWLCA All-Northeast Region Second Team.
During her graduate year, Moreau had an outstanding season, scoring a career-high 35 goals and providing 15 assists. She led the Minutewomen to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. One of her standout performances was a game against Saint Joseph's, where she scored five goals. As a team captain during her senior season, Moreau started in all 20 games and contributed 16 goals, six assists, 26 ground balls, and 26 caused turnovers. In her junior year, she started in 16 out of 17 games and collected 17 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Additionally, she started in all five games during the COVID-shortened 2020 season and made 11 starts as a freshman.
