Biography
Personal: McGuire enjoys painting, drawing, designing clothes, making music, and dancing. As a child, she was involved in soccer, boxing, and track and field. She models her game after Allen Iverson and Seimone Augustus along with her brother and cousin.
2024 Season: In her second Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball season, Suriya McGuire accumulated 2,767 leaderboard points. She saw action in eight games as a reserve and averaged 1.4 points and 0.7 rebounds per contest. She netted a career-high six points in 17 minutes during the season finale against Team Bell, making 2-of-5 field goal attempts and both of her free throws. She also knocked down a three-pointer in seven minutes against Team Sims in the season opener and notched a career-high four assists in the Week Three finale against Team Gray.
2023 Season: McGuire compiled 1,869 leaderboard points during her first Athletes Unlimited season, including a season-high 315 points against Team Smith on March 3. She appeared in seven games off the bench. She scored three points against Team Sims in the Week One finale and added two points to begin Week Two against Team Hillmon.
Other Professional Experience: Suriya McGuire split the 2017-18 season between SBS Ostrava of the Czech Republic-ZBL and Huima in Finland. She appeared in 10 games with Huima and averaged 11.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. She played one game with SBS Ostrava, scoring seven points with three rebounds against Karlovy Vary. She also competed in five games during the 2018 African Champions Cup season with Inter-Clube, averaging 4.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per outing. McGuire started her professional career in Iceland during the 2015-16 campaign and spent the 2016-17 season in Romania.
At Miami: McGuire was a five-year letter winner who played in 127 games at Miami from 2010-2015. She tied for 10th on the Hurricanes’ career games played list. She earned a starting assignment in 67 contests over her final three years and averaged 6.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. She shot 38.8 percent from the field, including a .428 mark during the 2013-14 campaign. McGuire led Miami with 43 steals during the 2013-14 campaign and authored 11 double-digit scoring performances as a senior while starting 26 of 33 games.
