Maddy Siegrist

Personal: The daughter of George and Ginna Siegrist, her father played basketball at Marist College from 1987-1991. She lists former Villanova University head women’s basketball coach Henry Perretta and current Villanova head coach Denise Dillon as people who have made a difference in her life. Siegrist models her game after Larry Bird and also participated in soccer, ballet, and gymnastics as a child. She enjoys hiking and going to the beach.

2024 Season: Maddy Siegrist was a talented newcomer who finished in 12th place on the leaderboard with 4,061 points. She closed the season with 2,291 stat points, good for fifth in the league, and tied for 10th in the circuit with 90 MVP points after receiving two Game MVP awards. As a starter in all 12 games, she averaged 19.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest. She was one of seven players with 400 or more minutes played and one of three players in the league with 100 or more rebounds. Siegrist led the league with 43 offensive rebounds and owned a share of the league lead with five double-digit rebounding performances and five double-doubles. She also reached double figures in scoring in all 12 games, including five outings with 20 or more points. She shot 50.0 percent from the field, including a 16-for-38 effort from three-point range. She was fourth in the league with 91 made field goals and fifth in the circuit with a .421 three-point field goal percentage and 37 fouls drawn. Siegrist earned MVP 2 distinction after scoring a season-high 28 points with 11 rebounds against Team Cloud in the Week Two opener. She made 12 of 18 field goal attempts en route to collecting 561 leaderboard points. She secured a season-high 594 leaderboard points on March 22 against Team Cloud after garnering MVP 3 accolades. She scored 24 points with 13 rebounds while going 6-for-6 at the foul line and also drew a season-high six fouls. Siegrist opened the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds against Team Sims on February 29th. She secured a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the Week One finale against Team Hull and started Week Three with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Team Cloud.

Other Professional Experience: Siegrist is a two-year WNBA veteran who was selected by the Dallas Wings with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft. She owns a 6.1 career scoring average with 2.3 rebounds per game and has played in 66 career games with 13 starts. She appeared in 39 games as a reserve during her rookie campaign and contributed 3.7 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest. She reached double figures in scoring four times, including a season-high 14 points against Phoenix on June 7, 2023, where she connected on 6-of-9 shots from the field and both free throw attempts while grabbing a season-high eight rebounds. She notched 11 points at Washington on August 20, 2023. As a starter in 13 of 27 contests during the 2024 campaign, she averaged 9.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per appearance. She posted 10 consecutive double-digit scoring efforts from May 25-June 17, 2024, including a pair of 20-point performances. She started the streak with a season-high 22 points and nine rebounds against Phoenix.

International Experience: Siegrist was one of four players named to the Team USA roster for the 2022 FIBA 3x3 U-23 Nations League in Constanta, Romania. She also competed for Team USA at the 2022 FIBA 3x3 Nations League Americas in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. As a member of the 2024 United States 3x3 Women’s AmeriCup Team, she guided Team USA to a 4-1 record and a Silver medal after averaging 4.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

At Villanova: A four-year letter winner at Villanova, Siegrist started 116 of 119 games for the Wildcats from 2019-2023. She was the first player in program history to earn All-America status and graduated as the Wildcats’ all-time leading scorer with 2,896 career points while grabbing 1,102 rebounds, which rank second in school history. She also holds the career scoring title for Philadelphia Big Five Women’s Basketball. Siegrist is one of two players in program history with 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. She also stands fifth on the school’s career ledger with 210 made three-point field goals and 131 blocked shots. She set a school record by making 498 free throws during her four-year career and tallied 118 steals to rank among Villanova’s all-time leaders. She is third on Villanova’s career games started list and scored 30 or more points in a game 11 times during her career. She set a school single-game record with a 50-point effort against Seton Hall on February 11, 2023, where she made 20 of 26 shots from the field en route to establishing new school and BIG EAST Conference single-game standards. She owns four of the top six single-game scoring totals in program history, including three 40-point performances. Siegrist holds the program standard for points scored by a freshman (583), junior (684), and senior (1,081). She established a Villanova single-season record with 341 rebounds during her senior season.

Siegrist was a two-time Associated Press All-America performer who earned First-Team status as a senior and Third-Team distinction following her junior season. She also collected three USBWA All-America certificates, including First-Team notice as a senior. She was the winner of the 2022-23 Katrina McClain Award as the nation’s top power forward by the Basketball Hall of Fame and WBCA and was also named a finalist for the 2020-21 Katrina McClain Award. A four-time All-BIG EAST Conference First Team selection, she was honored as BIG EAST and Philadelphia Big Five Player of the Year in her final two seasons at Villanova. She also received the 2019-20 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year citation in unanimous fashion. She set a BIG EAST record by receiving Player of the Week accolades 17 times during her career and also matched the league record by claiming Freshman of the Week honors 10 times in the 2019-20 season. The fastest player in school history to score 1,000 points, she needed just 50 games to reach the milestone. She scored 20 or more points in 37 consecutive games during the 2022-23 season, marking the longest stretch by any player this century. She was named the 2022 Philadelphia Sports Writers Association Amateur Athlete of the Year and broke Villanova’s career scoring record with a 23-point performance at Creighton on January 20, 2023, passing Shelly Pennefather. Siegrist was one of six players in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history to compile 1,000 points in a single season and led the nation with 1,081 points during the 2022-23 campaign, the third-highest total in NCAA Division I history. She was named the NCAA Division I Individual Statistical Champion after averaging 29.2 points per game as a senior and ranked second in the nation in scoring as a junior with a 25.3 average. She notched 20 points in a game 21 times, including nine outings of 30 or more points. She became the third player in BIG EAST history to lead the league in scoring and rebounding during her sophomore campaign, averaging 22.8 points and 9.8 caroms per game. She was named one of ESPN.com’s Top 10 Freshmen in the country after averaging 18.8 points and 8.9 boards per contest.
