Biography
Personal: Westbrook is one of five children in her family. She lists Cal Stars EYBL Coach Kelly Sopak as a person who has made a difference in her life. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, movies, shopping, and going out to eat. As a child, she participated in tap and ballet dancing.
2024 Season: Westbrook missed the season due to an injury that she suffered during scrimmages.
2023 Season: In 2023, Westbrook accumulated 4,143 leaderboard points to finish in 17th place during her first Athletes Unlimited season. She was eighth in the league with 3,050 win points. Westbrook started in all 15 games, averaging 8.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest. She tied for fifth in the league with 12 blocked shots and received two Game MVP awards. Westbrook earned 300 or more leaderboard points nine times, including six of her first seven games. She reached the 400-point mark in back-to-back games to finish Week One, including a season-best 437 points in the Week One finale against Team Cole. She posted four double-digit scoring efforts, including a season-high 21 points against Team Smith to open Week Four. In that game, she also dished out a season-high seven assists. Westbrook netted 16 points against Team Cole on February 26 after making 7-of-12 field goal attempts, including a 2-for-4 showing from three-point range. She began Week Five with 10 points against Team Sims.
Other Professional Experience: Westbrook was selected with the No. 21 overall pick by the Seattle Storm in the 2022 WNBA Draft. She played for the Minnesota Lynx and Washington Mystics as a rookie after being waived by Seattle. She averaged 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds in 14 games with Minnesota before joining Washington on June 27, 2022. She saw action in six games as a reserve with the Mystics, averaging 3.3 points and 1.0 rebounds per contest. She netted a season-high 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, against Chicago on August 5, 2022. Westbrook split time between Phoenix and Los Angeles during the 2023 campaign, appearing in 18 total games as a reserve. She was the first Mexican-American athlete to play in WNBA history.
International Experience: Westbrook was a member of the Gold medal-winning Team USA at the 2016 FIBA Americas U-18 Championship. She also participated in the 2014 United States U-17 World Championship team trials and 2017 U-19 World Cup team trials.
At Tennessee: Westbrook spent her first two seasons at Tennessee before transferring to UConn. She appeared in 130 total games from 2017-2022, starting 109 of them, and earned a starting assignment in 64 games for the Lady Vols as a freshman and sophomore. Westbrook appeared in 66 career games with UConn, including 45 starts, and averaged 9.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game for the Huskies. She started in 30 games during her redshirt junior season in 2020-2021 with UConn, averaging 9.4 points and a career-best 5.3 rebounds per game in her first year with the Huskies. She compiled a 9.0 scoring average while starting 15 of 36 games as a redshirt senior. She registered 17 double-digit scoring efforts, including a season-high 17 points against UCLA on December 11, 2021, and against Marquette on February 23, 2022.
At UConn: Westbrook was a member of the 2017-2018 Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team, averaging 8.4 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game. She notched 12 double-digit scoring efforts as a freshman, including 18 points against Auburn. During her sophomore season, she paced the Lady Vols with 14.9 points and 5.3 assists per game. She scored a career-high 29 points at Oklahoma State on December 2, 2018, and equaled the mark with 29 points against Stanford on December 18, 2018.
