Christyn Williams

Biography
Personal: Williams is the daughter of Cheryl and Sherman Williams and is one of six children in her family. Her brother, Timothy, played baseball at Crowder College, and her cousin, Wallace Spearmon, is a two-time Olympic athlete in track and field. She started playing basketball at three years old and was named the 2018 Gatorade National Player of the Year, along with winning three Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year citations during her scholastic career at Central Arkansas Christian High School.
Other Professional Experience: Christyn Williams was selected by the Washington Mystics with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft.
International Experience: Williams competed for Team USA at the 2016 U-17 World Championship in Zaragoza, Spain, and also participated in the 2017 U-19 World Championship. She was a member of Team USA at the 2017 U-18 3x3 World Cup and played for the Gold medal-winning United States 3x3 unit at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. Additionally, she was a member of the Team USA roster that won the Gold medal at the 2017 Youth Olympic Games.
At UConn: Williams was a four-year letter winner who started 131 of her 132 career games from 2018-2022. She ranks 16th on the Huskies’ career scoring list with 1,850 points and received the 2022 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award as the nation’s top shooting guard. She led the Huskies to four consecutive conference tournament titles and three NCAA Final Four® appearances. Williams was a three-time First-Team All-Conference selection and also claimed American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year accolades in 2018-19. She was a four-time Conference Championship All-Tournament Team honoree and earned Big East Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player distinction in 2022. As a senior, she was the Huskies’ second-leading scorer with a 14.2 average while starting 33 games. She netted 10 or more points in 28 contests, including a 31-point outburst against Minnesota on November 20, 2021. During her junior campaign, she started 29 games and contributed 16.3 points per game, good for second on the team. She produced 25 double-digit scoring performances, including a 29-point effort at DePaul on January 31, 2021. As a sophomore, she earned a starting assignment in 31 of 32 games and contributed 15.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game with nine games of 20 or more points. Williams opened her college career by starting all 38 games and averaging 11.7 points per game while shooting 49.9 percent from the field. She also grabbed 3.2 rebounds per outing.
