Nadia Taylor

Personal: Taylor was named assistant softball coach at Houston on May 29, 2023, after spending the 2023 season at Michigan State. She majored in physical culture and sports with a minor in business at Texas. Taylor joined Sam Fischer to sing ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ during the seventh-inning stretch at a Chicago Cubs game against Cincinnati on July 31, 2023. She lists Karen Aston as a person who has made a difference in her life. Taylor owns NT88 Sports Performance and 88’s Nutrition and Recovery, training Major League Baseball, college baseball, and college softball players. Her brother, Patrick, played college football at Memphis and spent three seasons with the Green Bay Packers before signing with the San Francisco 49ers on April 8, 2024. Her sister is a high school volleyball coach. If she were not playing softball, Taylor would be a lawyer or basketball player. She enjoys spending time with family along with playing golf and watching sports. Her walk-up song is “Last Last” by Burna Boy, and she models her game after Manny Ramirez.

2024 AUX Season: Taylor enjoyed the best finish of her Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball career after finishing the campaign in ninth place. She tallied 1,126 leaderboard points, including 790 win points and 216 stat points. Taylor amassed 100 or more leaderboard points in a game six times and earned a starting assignment in all 12 games. She fashioned a .256 batting average with 11 hits, including three doubles and two home runs. Taylor drove in nine runs while scoring five times. She collected a season-high 180 leaderboard points against Team Alo in the season finale after belting a home run in an MVP 2 performance. Taylor also earned MVP 2 recognition against Team Alo on June 19 and received MVP 3 notice after going 3-for-4 against Team Edwards in the second game of the June 17 doubleheader. She opened the season with 120 leaderboard points against Team Leach.

2023 Championship Season: Taylor accrued 1,292 leaderboard points to secure 21st place in the final league standings. She ranked seventh in the league with a .310 batting average and finished ninth in the circuit with a .370 on-base percentage. Additionally, Taylor tied for ninth in the circuit with a .500 slugging percentage. She earned a starting assignment in 14-of-15 games, tallying 13 hits, including two doubles and two home runs, while driving in seven runs. Taylor secured MVP 1 honors against Team Romero on August 9 at AU Pro Games at the Little League Softball World Series after going 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs batted in. She posted a season-high three hits against Team Nickles on August 19, including a home run, with two RBI to garner MVP 2 notice. Taylor tallied eight games with 100 or more leaderboard points, including four straight outings from August 4-9.

2023 AUX Season: Taylor secured 836 leaderboard points, earning her 18th place in the league standings. She accumulated 630 win points and 146 stat points throughout the season. On June 15, she was awarded MVP 1 honors after Team Zerkle's 7-6 victory over Team Garcia. Taylor started in 8 out of 9 games and maintained a batting average of .214. She hit two home runs and drove in nine runs. Additionally, she recorded one double and scored five runs. At the beginning of the season, she had a four-game hitting streak, going 5-for-15 with seven runs batted in during that time. On June 14, she went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs batted in against Team Mulipola. In a game against Team Garcia on June 15, she hit a grand slam to left field during the first inning.

2022 Championship Season: Taylor finished 29th in the league standings with 1,152 leaderboard points. She started in 9-of-14 games, recorded four hits, including a double, and scored twice while drawing four walks. In the Week One finale against Team Chidester, she went 2-for-4 with a run scored. In Week Two against Team Harshman, she logged a double.

2022 AUX Season: Taylor finished 25th with 832 leaderboard points. She tied for fourth in the league with five multi-hit games and posted a five-game hitting streak from June 13-19, going 9-for-17 during the streak. She hit her lone home run of the season during the hitting streak with a solo shot against Team Eberle on June 15. Taylor closed the season with at least one hit in the final four games.

2021 Championship Season: Taylor accumulated 1,194 leaderboard points to finish in 26th place. She tied for third in the league by being hit by a pitch two times.

2020 Championship Season: Taylor posted 1,080 leaderboard points. She hit .273 in 15 games, including 14 starts, and tied for fifth in the league with three doubles. She also shared eighth place with four home runs while driving in 12 runs.

Other Professional Experience: Taylor is a two-time All-NPF selection who earned the Jennie Finch Award in 2018. She appeared in 194 games over five seasons from 2014-18, compiling 21 home runs with 81 runs batted in. Taylor hit .321 during the 2017 season with 30 hits, including a career-best 10 home runs, in 50 games for the Texas Charge. She opened her career with the Akron Racers in 2014 before spending three seasons with the Dallas/Texas Charge. Taylor tallied five home runs with 24 runs batted in during the 2018 campaign with a .270 batting average. She also played in the Minamo Softball League in Japan.

At Texas: Taylor played for the University of Texas from 2009-12 and was a four-year letter winner. She was a four-time NFCA All-Region performer for the Longhorns, including First-Team honors as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. Taylor also earned All-Big 12 Conference distinction all four years, including a pair of First-Team accolades. She ranks fourth in program history with 234 career games played and shares second place on Longhorns’ career games started list. Taylor had a .337 batting average with 32 home runs and 131 runs batted in, collected 219 hits, including 40 doubles and two triples, with 120 runs scored. She led the Longhorns with 16 doubles as a senior and finished her career with 41 doubles, the fifth-highest mark in program history. Taylor drew 87 career walks to rank sixth all-time at Texas and owns the school record by being hit by a pitch 21 times in her career. She reached base safely in 21 consecutive games during her freshman season and registered a school-record 162 assists as a freshman. Taylor hit three doubles against New Mexico on Apr. 1, 2012, to match the single-game record and set a school record with five walks against Kansas on Apr. 14, 2012. She is also a two-sport athlete who played for the Longhorns’ basketball team during the 2013-14 season. Taylor appeared in 14 games and made one start while shooting 35.7 percent (5-for-14) from the field.
