ROSEMONT, Ill. — Sunday night’s Athletes Unlimited Softball contest between Team Ocasio and Team Chidester was a prime example of the term ‘anything you can do, I can do better.’

Team Ocasio countered a three-run third inning by Team Chidester with three runs of its own in the fifth frame to secure a 5-3 victory in the Week One finale at Parkway Bank Sports Complex.

The win allowed Team Ocasio to close the opening week with a 1-2 record, while Team Chidester also finished play with a 1-2 mark.

Outfielder Shannon Rhodes led the charge for Team Ocasio with 210 leaderboard points, including MVP 1 honors, after blasting her first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the first inning, to go with a single in the fifth frame.

Pitcher Aleshia Ocasio followed by securing MVP 2 distinction after scattering three hits over 3.0 innings with two strikeouts and a walk, finishing with 186 leaderboard points.

Outfielder Bubba Nickles drove in all three runs in the loss for Team Chidester with a three-run home run in the third inning and was awarded MVP 3 recognition.

A single by infielder Danielle Gibson brought infielder Nadia Taylor home to complete the scoring.
