Recap: Odyssey Sims' scores career-high 41 points in Team Siegrist's 96-86 win

Sims erupted for a career-high 41 points, including 27 in the first half, on 13-of-20 shooting to earn MVP 1 honors while setting a new league single-game record with 941 leaderboard points.

Siegrist, meanwhile, claimed MVP 2 distinction after connecting on 9-of-16 shots from the floor while adding seven rebounds en route to 634 leaderboard points.

Guard Bria Hartley paced Team Bradford with a season-high 23 points and gathered in three rebounds with five assists to claim MVP 3 status and 291 leaderboard points.

Forward Maya Caldwell tacked on 13 points with seven rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals in the victory for Team Siegrist, while guard Taj Cole dished out a team-high five assists.

Captain Crystal Bradford boasted her third straight double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds in a losing effort, while guard Jaylyn Sherrod poured in 13 points. Forward Desi-Rae Young added 10 points off the bench in the defeat.

KEY MOMENT

Team Bradford tied the game at 30-30 with 7:51 left in the first half before Team Siegrist erupted for a 15-2 run over the next three minutes to take a 45-32 advantage it did not concede. Sims led the charge by scoring 18 points during the frame.

LEADERBOARD IMPACT

Sims assumed the top spot on the seasonal leaderboard with 3,570 points with Siegrist behind her in second place with 3,467 points. The weekly leaderboard features Team Siegrist earning seven of the top 10 positions, including Isabelle Harrison, who leapt 12 spots into third place with 1,517 points. Caldwell, meanwhile, jumped 13 places into fourth place with 1,503 points.

NOTES OF INTEREST

• Sisters Dorie Harrison and Isabelle Harrison faced each other for the fourth time in their AU Pro Basketball careers … Isabelle Harrison earned her first victory in the series.

• The designated home team has won 7-of-12 games this season, but dropped both contests on Saturday.

• Team Siegrist became the 10th team in Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball history to author a perfect 3-0 weekly record, including the first squad to accomplish the feat since Team [Kierstan] Bell did so in the final week of last season.

• Sims becomes the first player in AU Pro Basketball history to record 900 or more leaderboard points in a single game, topping the previous record of 871 set by Siegrist on Friday night against Team [Tyasha] Harris.

• Sims established a new Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball record with 27 points in the first half, which bested the previous mark set by guard Kia Nurse … Nurse tallied 25 points in the opening 20 minutes against Team Siegrist to open Week Two on Wednesday morning.

• In addition, Sims matched the league record with 10 made field goals in the first half … It is the third time a player has converted 10 field goals in a first half.

• Sims’ 13-for-13 performance at the free throw line marks the second-best single-game effort in AU Pro Basketball history … Guard Natasha Cloud went 16-for-16 at the charity stripe against Team Brown on February 25, 2022.

• Sims established a new Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball single-week standard by closing Week Two with 2,503 leaderboard points … The previous mark was set by Tianna Hawkins when she collected 2,024 points in Week Two during the inaugural 2022 campaign.

• Sims earned her 22nd career Game MVP award, including her sixth MVP 1 citation … She ranks second on the league’s career Game MVP ledger behind guard Kelsey Mitchell, who owns 24 career Game MVP certificates.

• Sims also matched the league record for points in a second quarter after tallying 18 points during the second frame on Saturday night … She connected on all seven field goal attempts, including a pair of three-pointers, while sinking both free throws to tie the mark she originally set against Team Gray on March 7, 2024.

• Siegrist, who finished Week Two with 2,027 leaderboard points, joins Sims as the third and fourth players in league history to amass 2,000 or more leaderboard points in a single week.

• Sims registered the eighth 40-point game in Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball history, including the second of her career … She joins Isabelle Harrison as the only players in league history to post multiple 40-point efforts.

• Sims extended her own league record by crossing the 30-point plateau for the 13th time, including her second game with 30 or more points in Week Two.

• Sims also tied the AU Pro Basketball single-game record with a career-high seven steals on Saturday night, equaling the mark set by guard/forward DiJonai Carrington against Team Brown on February 5, 2022.
