Lowe's 22 kills lead her team in win over Team Cruz

DALLAS — Team Lowe earned the first win of the 2022 Athletes Unlimited Volleyball season after defeating Team Cruz, 77-74, on Wednesday evening. Team Lowe secured a 27-25 win in the first set before Team Cruz countered with a 27-25 triumph in the second set. Team Lowe claimed the match victory with a 25-22 verdict in the final set.

MATCH NOTES

Team Lowe opposite Karsta Lowe led all athletes with 22 kills on 56 attempts … It marked the third 20-kill performance of her Athletes Unlimited Volleyball career.
Team Lowe setter Carli Lloyd and Team Cruz opposite Falyn Fonoimoana recorded the first double-doubles of the Athletes Unlimited Volleyball season … Lloyd tallied 40 assists and added 13 digs, while Fonoimoana chipped in 12 kills and 15 digs.
Outside hitter Aury Cruz registered 14 digs in the loss for Team Cruz, setting a personal Athletes Unlimited career high … It is the third time Cruz has authored 10 or more digs in a match in her AU career … Cruz also added eight kills in the loss.
Libero Amanda Benson tallied 19 digs in her Athletes Unlimited Volleyball debut.
Team Cruz middle blocker Ali Bastianelli garnered a match-high three blocks in a losing effort.
Team Cruz setter Nootsara Tomkom had 38 assists in the loss while adding eight digs.
Team Lowe outside hitter Lindsay Stalzer contributed seven kills and nine digs in the victory.

Captain Karsta Lowe tallied 347 points on the evening, while teammate Carli Lloyd banked 297 of her own. Team Lowe earned 140 win points for two set wins and the overall match. Molly McCage picked up 153 points from Team Cruz, including 40 win points from a second set win.
