Sydni Black
Biography
Personal: Black is the daughter of Sheryl and Harry Black, she is a four-sport athlete and also competed on the field hockey, basketball, and track and field teams in high school. Her brother, Bryan, played football at Catholic University. She graduated from Loyola Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in May 2024.
2024 Season: Black was one of 16 players selected in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse College Draft.
At Loyola Maryland: Black, a four-year letter winner at Loyola Maryland, started 63 out of 76 games for the Greyhounds from 2021 to 2024. She ranks 10th on the Greyhounds' career list with 248 points and is the ninth-leading scorer in program history with 178 career goals and 70 assists. Additionally, she tallied 153 draw controls and 59 ground balls. Black stands second on the program's single-season ledger after notching 76 goals during her senior year. She also holds the fourth place in Loyola single-season history with 106 points during the 2024 campaign. Black tallied 30 hat tricks in her career, including 14 outings as a senior and finished her career with a goal in 55 consecutive games. As a senior, she was selected as a Second-Team IWLCA All-America and also received Honorable Mention All-America status by Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine. Black was a member of the 2024 IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team and a three-time All-Patriot League selection, honored as the conference's 2024 Attacker of the Year. She ranked second in the Patriot League with 76 goals and ended the season as one of three players with 100 or more points. Black was named the Patriot League Championship Most Valuable Player after guiding the Greyhounds to their fifth straight league crown. She scored nine goals with three assists in victories over Lehigh and Navy and scored multiple goals in 20 out of 21 contests during the 2024 campaign, including 14 games with three or more markers. Black notched a career-high 10 points against Princeton on April 10, 2024, scoring five goals with five assists. She was a First-Team All-Patriot League pick during her junior season after ranking second on the team with 81 points and leading the Greyhounds to a 19-3 record. Black ranked fourth in the Patriot League with 55 goals and 81 points and tallied nine goals with two assists against Lehigh and Army West Point to earn a spot on the Patriot League All-Tournament Team. She netted a season-high eight points against Penn after striking for four goals with four assists. Black earned Second-Team All-Patriot League distinction as a sophomore after scoring 39 goals with 13 assists over 21 games and saw action in 13 games as a freshman, leading all Loyola rookies with eight goals and an assist.
