Odyssey Sims

Personal: Sims has two brothers and is a mother to a 4-year-old son named Jaiden. She has two dogs and enjoys bowling and watching movies on the Lifetime Movie Network. She also participated in volleyball and track and field as a child. She majored in speech communication at Baylor. She lists former Baylor assistant women’s basketball coach Damion McKinney as a person who has made an influence in her life. Her No. 3 jersey was retired by MacArthur High School on May 21, 2010.

2025 Season: The 2025 season saw Odyssey Sims named an Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball All-Defensive Team member, claiming her second consecutive runner-up showing with 6,595 leaderboard points. She became the third player in any Athletes Unlimited sport to earn medalist honors three times. Sims started all 12 games and led the league with 3,115 stat points while ranking second with 660 MVP points. She tied for eighth in the circuit with 2,820 win points. She helped Team Siegrist set a new league record by earning 1,140 win points during Week Two. She tied for second in the league with seven games of 500 or more leaderboard points, including a league-best seven contests with at least 600 points. She shared the league lead with Maddy Siegrist after posting 700 or more leaderboard points in a game four times, including a pair of 800-point performances. She authored a 7-5 game record, including a 3-3 record in two weeks as a team captain, and posted a 2-1 record as a captain in Week Three. She ranked second in the league with nine Game MVP commendations, including eight citations in the final nine games, and also garnered MVP 1 status five times. She authored a league-high 25.5 scoring average, the third-highest mark in AU Pro Basketball history. She also guided the league in assists (78), free throws made (78), free throw attempts (87), fouls drawn (67), and turnovers (34). Sims was second in the league with 29 steals in 12 games and led the league in scoring during Week Two and Week Four. She tied for fourth in the circuit with two double-doubles. She registered the fourth triple-double in league history against Team Harris on February 14 after scoring 20 points with 10 rebounds and 12 assists, and also posted the fifth “Athletes Unlimited Triple-Double” in league history with 26 points, 12 assists, and 11 fouls drawn against Team Harrison on February 20. She established a new league record by collecting 2,503 leaderboard points during Week Two. She was one of two players in the league to score 10 or more points in all 12 games and led the league by netting 20 or more points in 11 of 12 outings. She ranked second in the league with six games of 25 or more points, including a league-high three 30-point contests. She paced the league by dishing out seven or more assists in five of 12 outings. She was the only player in the league with 10 or more assists in a game after 12-assist performances against Team Harris (February 14) and Team Harrison (February 20). She made 35 consecutive free throws from February 7-20, marking the second-longest streak in league history. She closed the season with a streak of 11 consecutive games with 20 or more points after being limited to 11 points against Team Westbrook on February 5. She broke the AU Pro Basketball single-game record by collecting 941 leaderboard points in an MVP 1 performance against Team Bradford on February 15. She erupted for a career-high 41 points on 13-of-20 shooting from the field while sinking all 13 free throw attempts. She also matched the AU Pro Basketball single-game record by registering seven steals while adding five rebounds and eight drawn fouls. She compiled 807 leaderboard points against Team Harrison on February 7 after scoring 27 points with five rebounds, six assists, and five fouls drawn. She opened Week Two with back-to-back games of 700 or more leaderboard points. She nearly registered a triple-double with 30 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists against Team Nurse en route to MVP 1 distinction and 780 leaderboard points, and also had 782 leaderboard points against Team Harris on February 14 with a triple-double performance. She opened Week Three by accumulating 625 leaderboard points against Team Caldwell. She earned Game MVP accolades in all three games during Week Four, including MVP 1 notice in the season finale against Team Siegrist. She compiled 651 leaderboard points after finishing with 24 points, nine assists, and four fouls drawn. She notched a 32-point effort against Team Harris on March 1, making 12-of-25 field goal attempts while adding six rebounds, six assists, and six fouls drawn. She opened Week Four with an MVP 3 effort against Team Bradford, scoring 24 points with seven assists and four fouls drawn.

2024 Season: Sims earned medalist honors for the second straight season after authoring a second-place finish with 6,046 leaderboard points. She was one of three players to remain in the top four spots of the leaderboard during the entire season, and joined Allisha Gray as the only players in the league to hold the top spot on the leaderboard at any point during the season. She also held second place in the league with 2,986 stat points, and was fifth in the league with 360 MVP points. She was a six-time Game MVP selection and fashioned a 7-5 record in four weeks as a captain. She posted four games with 500 or more leaderboard points, including three outings with 600 or more points, and tied with Gray by authoring 700 or more leaderboard points in two games. She was one of two players to register 800 or more points in a game during the season. Sims started all 12 games and ranked third in the league with a 23.5 scoring average. She authored 20 or more points in a game seven times, including two outings with 30 or more points, and was one of three players in the league with a 40-point performance during the season. She registered a league-high 117 assists over 12 games and led the league by dishing out seven or more assists in 11 of 12 games, including six games with 10 or more assists. She was one of two players in the league to collect 15 or more assists in a game during the season, and also grabbed a career-best 6.3 rebounds per game. She reached double figures in scoring in all 12 games, including eight 20-point outings. She registered a league-high six double-doubles and also became the first player in league history with multiple triple-doubles in a single season and career. She joined Natasha Cloud as the only players in league history with a triple-double and tied with Cloud for the league lead by playing 449 minutes. She ranked second in the league with 72 made free throws and 84 free throw attempts, and also ranked second with 65 fouls drawn. She was third in the league with 23 steals and fifth in the circuit with 60 defensive rebounds. She opened the season by making 11-of-23 field goal attempts, including a 3-for-4 effort from three-point range, while adding 10 assists and eight rebounds in an MVP 1 performance against Team Mitchell. She also became the third player in league history to accrue 800 leaderboard points in a game after collecting 805 points in the season-opening victory. She netted a season-high 40 points to begin Week Two against Team Gray, securing MVP 3 accolades, and converted 13-of-24 shots from the field while going 11-for-14 from the foul line. She garnered Game MVP distinction in three consecutive contests in Week Three, starting the week with 20 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds against Team Gray to receive MVP 3 distinction. She added 19 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds in an MVP 2 showing against Team Cloud on March 16. She closed the week with her second straight MVP 2 honor after posting her first triple-double of her Athletes Unlimited career against Team Mitchell, scoring 21 points with 12 assists and a season-high 10 rebounds. She notched her second triple-double on March 22 against Team Bell, scoring 23 points with 10 assists and 10 rebounds. She finished the season by earning MVP 1 plaudits and 708 leaderboard points against Team Gray after scoring 31 points with eight assists.

2023 Season: Sims posted a third-place finish on the league leaderboard with 6,383 points during her second Athletes Unlimited campaign. She led the league with 3,273 stat points while tying for sixth with 420 MVP points. She posted seven games with 500 or more leaderboard points, including a career-high 650 points against Team Sims to close Week One. She secured four consecutive results with 500 or more leaderboard points from February 24-March 3. She was third in the league with eight Game MVP awards, including four MVP 2 distinctions and four MVP 3 commendations. She held the top spot on the league’s leaderboard after 12 of 15 game days, setting league single-season and career standards. She was the first player in Athletes Unlimited Basketball history to serve as a captain during all five weeks of a season, and posted an 8-7 record as a captain, setting a league single-season mark for most victories by a captain. She served as Gold team captain for the final four weeks of the season and became the first player in Athletes Unlimited Basketball history to reach 10,000 career leaderboard points. Sims started all 15 games and led the league in scoring average (26.1 ppg), minutes played (560), field goal attempts (314), free throws made (89), and assists (106). She finished the season as the third player in league history to accrue 100 or more assists in a single campaign. She ranked second in the league in free throw attempts (103) and fouls drawn (86) and was seventh in the league with 24 steals. She also set a league single-season record by scoring 392 points over 15 games. She paced the league with five games of 30 or more points, including an Athletes Unlimited career-high 38 points against Team Harrison on March 24. She established a league record by scoring 20 or more points in 11 consecutive games before being held to seven points in the season finale against Team Smith, which also ended a string of 23 straight double-digit scoring performances dating back to the 2022 campaign. She compiled three straight double-doubles to begin the season while setting a league standard for most assists in a single week (38). She matched the Athletes Unlimited single-game record by drawing 11 fouls against Team Harrison on March 4, and also established a league single-game standard with 17 free throw attempts in a 109-107 setback. She grabbed a season-high eight rebounds in three different games.

2022 Season: Sims finished sixth in the league with 5,043 leaderboard points. She authored five games with 400 or more points, including a season-high 564-point effort on February 12 against Team Cloud. She was honored as a game MVP four times. She was the third-leading scorer in Athletes Unlimited with 20.7 points per game, and also ranked third in total points (311), field goals made (114), field goal attempts (240), and three-point field goal attempts (89). She tied for fourth in the circuit with 80 assists, including a season-high 12 assists against Team Mitchell on January 28. She was sixth in AU with a .416 three-point field goal percentage and ranked second in the league with 37 made three-pointers. She shot 90.2 percent from the free throw line (46-for-51) while starting all 15 games, and also ranked seventh in the league with 67 defensive rebounds. She reached double figures in scoring in 14 of 15 appearances, including eight games with 20 or more points. She finished the season with five straight 20-point efforts. She authored her lone double-double of the season on February 11 against Team Brown with 16 points and a season-high 12 rebounds, shooting 5-for-12 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line in 38 minutes. She netted a season-high 32 points on 12-of-21 shooting from the floor against Team Cloud to complete Week Three, also grabbing eight rebounds while going 4-of-4 at the free throw line. She registered a 31-point performance against Team Mitchell on January 28, going 9-for-20 from the field and 9-of-9 from the charity stripe. She closed the season with 30 points against Team Brown, including 6-of-8 three-point field goal attempts, and finished the game by making 12-of-24 field goals in 35 minutes.

Other Professional Experience: Sims is a twelve-year WNBA veteran who has played for eight different teams. She has appeared in 316 regular season games with 218 starts and owns an 11.1 career point per game average while knocking down 39.8 percent of her field goal attempts. She was selected No. 2 overall by the Tulsa Shock in the 2014 WNBA Draft and was a member of the 2014 WNBA All-Rookie Team. She was a two-time WNBA Rookie of the Month selection who averaged 16.7 points per game in her first season with Tulsa while shooting 40.6 percent from the field. She earned a 2019 WNBA All-Star selection while playing for Minnesota. She has also spent time with Las Vegas, Dallas, Atlanta, Minnesota, Connecticut, Los Angeles, and Indiana during her career. She claimed a spot on the 2019 All-WNBA Second Team after posting a 14.5 scoring average while starting all 34 games in her first season with Minnesota. She helped the Connecticut Sun reach the 2022 WNBA Finals. She signed a seven-day contract on August 3 before inking a season-long deal on August 10 and appeared in five regular season games for the Sun in addition to all 12 playoff contests. She saw action in 28 games in her return to Dallas during the 2023 campaign, averaging 2.0 points and 2.2 assists per outing. She contributed 9.8 points and 5.1 assists per game in nine appearances with the Wings in 2024 before being acquired by the Los Angeles Sparks on August 17, 2024. She saw action in 15 games with 10 starts in Los Angeles, averaging 9.8 points and 5.3 assists per outing. She started in 11 of 12 games for Los Angeles to begin the 2025 campaign before being signed by Indiana on August 10, 2025. She contributed 10.3 points per game for the Fever while earning a starting assignment in 10 of 12 outings. She has also played in South Korea and Turkey during the offseason.

International Experience: Sims played on USA Basketball’s World University Games team in 2011, leading Team USA to a Gold medal after averaging 6.2 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. She also earned a Gold medal with Team USA at the 2013 World University Games in Russia, where she averaged 12.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game en route to securing Most Valuable Player honors.

At Baylor: Sims was a three-time consensus First-Team All-America selection at Baylor who started 132 of 145 games with the Lady Bears from 2010-14. She led Baylor to the 2012 NCAA Division I championship and also garnered Honorable Mention All-America recognition by the Associated Press and WBCA as a freshman. She was named to the John Wooden All-America Team as a junior and senior. She was the recipient of the Wade Trophy and the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award in 2014, in addition to the Nancy Lieberman Award as the nation’s top point guard. She also earned Wade Trophy and Wooden Award finalist status three times. She was named the 2014 Freshman of the Year by the United States Basketball Writers Association. She was a four-time First-Team All-Big 12 Conference pick who earned Player of the Year honors in 2014. She collected Big 12 All-Defensive Team plaudits three times, in addition to being named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. She was tabbed Big 12 Athlete of the Year in 2013-14. She is the third-leading scorer in program history with 2,533 career points and owns the Baylor all-time record for career three-point field goals made (258). She is one of five players in program history to make at least 40.0 percent of her career three-point field goal attempts (.402). She ranks second in program history with 331 career steals and 641 career assists. She set the Baylor single-season scoring record by averaging 28.5 points per game in 2013-14 and also made a school-record 98 three-pointers as a senior. She is one of six players in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history to score 1,000 points in a single season after compiling 1,054 points during the 2013-14 campaign. She also holds the distinction of being one of four players in Baylor history with at least 1,000 points in a single campaign. She scored 40 or more points in a game four times, including a career-high 48 points at West Virginia on January 8, 2014. She led the Bears in assists as a sophomore and junior and also paced the squad in steals during each of her final three seasons. She is the only player in program history to wear No. 0.
