Maddy Siegrist
Biography
Personal: Siegrist is the daughter of George and Ginna Siegrist. Her father played basketball at Marist College from 1987-91.
Other Professional Experience: Siegrist was selected by the Dallas Wings with the No. 3 overall pick in 2023 WNBA Draft. She appeared in 39 games as a reserve during her rookie campaign, averaging 3.7 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest. She reached double figures in scoring four times, including a season-high 14 points against Phoenix on June 7, 2023. She connected on 6-of-9 shots from the field and both free throw attempts while grabbing season-high eight rebounds. She notched 11 points at Washington on August 20, 2023.
International Experience: Siegrist was one of four players named to the Team USA roster for 2022 FIBA 3x3 U-23 Nations League in Constanta, Romania. She also competed for Team USA at 2022 FIBA 3x3 Nations League Americas in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
College Experience: During her collegiate years at Villanova from 2019 to 2023, Siegrist became the first player in Villanova women's basketball history to achieve All-America status. She graduated as the Wildcats’ all-time leading scorer with 2,896 career points and securing 1,102 rebounds, ranking second in school history. She also holds the career scoring title for Philadelphia Big Five Women’s Basketball. She is one of two players in program history with 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. She stands fifth on school’s career ledger with 210 made three-point field goals and 131 blocked shots. She set a school record by making 498 free throws during her four-year career and tallied 118 steals to rank among Villanova’s all-time leaders. She ranks third on Villanova’s career games started list. Siegrist scored 30 or more points in a game 11 times during her career. She set a school record with a 50-point performance against Seton Hall on February 11, 2023, making 20-of-26 shots from the field en route to establishing new school and BIG EAST Conference single-game standards. She owns four of the top six single-game scoring totals in program history, including three 40-point performances. She also holds program standard for points scored by a freshman (583), junior (684) and senior (1,081). She established Villanova's single-season record with 341 rebounds during senior season. Siegrist is a two-time Associated Press All-America performer who earned First-Team status as a senior. She garnered Third-Team distinction following her junior season. She also collected three USBWA All-America certificates, including First-Team notice as a senior. She was the winner of 2022-23 Katrina McClain Award as the nation’s top power forward by the Basketball Hall of Fame and WBCA after being a finalist in 2020-21. She is a four-time All-BIG EAST Conference First Team selection. Siegrist was honored as BIG EAST and Philadelphia Big Five Player of the Year in final two seasons at Villanova. She also received 2019-20 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year citation in unanimous fashion. She set the BIG EAST record by receiving Player of the Week accolades 17 times during her career and matched the league record by claiming Freshman of the Week honors 10 times in 2019-20 season. She became the fastest player in school history to score 1,000 points after needing just 50 games to reach milestone. She scored 20 or more points in 37 consecutive games during the 2022-23 season, marking the longest stretch by any player this century. She was named the 2022 Philadelphia Sports Writers Association Amateur Athlete of the Year. She broke Villanova's career scoring record with 23-point performance at Creighton on January 20, 2023, passing Shelly Pennefather. She is one of five players in NCAA women’s basketball history to compile 1,000 points in a single season after leading Division I with 1,081 points during 2022-23 campaign. She ranked second in the nation in scoring as a junior with 25.3 average. Siegrist notched 20 points in a game 21 times, including nine outings of 30 or more points. She became the third player in BIG EAST history to lead the league in scoring and rebounding during sophomore campaign, averaging 22.8 points and 9.8 caroms per game. She was named one of ESPN.com’s Top 10 Freshmen in the country after averaging 18.8 points and 8.9 boards per contest.
