Week 1 Captains set for Lacrosse Season 3

The captains are set for the opening week of Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse Season 3.

The final leaderboard standings from the previous season determine the captains for the start of each new AU season.

Taylor Moreno, Sam Apuzzo, Ally Mastroianni, and Britt Read will draft their Week 1 teams to kick off the third installment of Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse on Monday evening. Teams will be announced on the Athletes Unlimited website and social channels.

Moreno will aim to defend her title after tallying 1,798 points in 2022 to become the 2022 Champion. She etched her name into the AU record books when she posted the most saves in a season with 132. Moreno led all players in stat points (692), had 11 double-digit save performances, and had a league-best .560 save percentage.

Apuzzo finished the season second on the leaderboard with 1,782 points – 16 behind Moreno. She had 24 goals and led the league in assists (16). She tallied the most win points of any athlete (1,130), aided by a 10-2 record and two undefeated weeks to begin the season. She also led the league in MVP points (270).

Mastroianni tallied 19 goals, including a 2-point shot, and 10 assists in her rookie season. She ranked fourth in draw controls (40).

Read posted 101 saves and a .520 save percentage, finishing fourth on the leaderboard.

Season 3 of Lacrosse begins on July 20 and runs through August 13 in Sparks, Md. at USA Lacrosse Headquarters. Tickets are on sale now.
