Allison Mayfield
Biography
Personal: Mayfield studied exercise science at Kansas. She is the daughter of John and Joanne Mayfield and has a sister, Emily, and a brother, Steven. Her mother, Joanne, played basketball at Benedictine, while her father, John, played baseball at Missouri Western.
Other Professional Experience: Mayfield led the Omaha Supernovas to win the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation title in 2024. During the 2019-20 season, she played with Universidad de San Martin de Porres Voleibol Club in Peru and was named the League MVP in 2018 while guiding Universidad San Martín to the Peruvian League championship. In 2019, she helped Fatum Nyiregyhaza win the Hungarian Cup. Mayfield has also played professionally in Finland, Switzerland, and France.
At Kansas: Mayfield was a four-year letter winner at Kansas from 2008 to 2011 and ranks sixth in the program's history with 1,282 career kills. She holds the school record for 3,858 attack attempts over 117 matches and led the Jayhawks in kills during her sophomore and senior years. Over her last three seasons, she also paced the team in attack attempts. In her senior season, Mayfield tallied 462 kills, the second-highest single-season total in Kansas history during the rally-scoring era. She holds the second spot on the school's single-season list with a 4.16 kill-per-set average in 2011 and set the rally-scoring era program record with 1,367 attack attempts that season. One of only three players in Kansas history to accumulate 500 or more points in a single season, she notched 507 points during her senior campaign. She was an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 Conference performer that year and led the league in kills per set. Mayfield recorded nine double-doubles while starting all 29 matches in her senior year, appearing in 111 sets. She collected 21 service aces and 45 total blocks and registered 15 or more digs in 22 of her 29 matches, including five contests with 20 or more digs. She earned Tournament MVP honors at the Georgia Bulldog Invitational, Jayhawk Invitational, and DePaul Invitational. She matched her career-high of 22 kills with a .400 hitting percentage against Texas Tech. As a junior, Mayfield started all 31 matches and contributed 330 kills, ranking second on the team with a 2.87 kill-per-set average. She set a career-high with 24 service aces and added 246 digs and 57 total blocks, along with three double-doubles. During her sophomore season, she was one of two players to compete in all 102 sets, accumulating 372 kills, 212 digs, 26 blocks, and 13 service aces. Mayfield also recorded four double-doubles that season. As a freshman, she appeared in 27 matches with six starts, contributing 118 kills, 41 digs, and 18 blocks. She earned Second-Team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors as a senior.
