WNBA Watch: NaLyssa Smith Leads AU Standouts in WNBA Week 7

Week 7 of WNBA action saw the Commissioner’s Cup picture come into focus, with the Las Vegas Aces securing a spot in the championship game behind another productive week from Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball star NaLyssa Smith. Meanwhile, Isabelle Harrison continued her scoring surge for the Toronto Tempo, while Kaitlyn Chen posted a pair of double-figure performances for the Golden State Valkyries.

Here’s a look at how the three AU stars contributed during Week 7.

NaLyssa Smith

NaLyssa Smith turned in another strong week for the Aces, and helped Las Vegas clinch a berth in the Commissioner’s Cup Final.

Smith recorded her second 20-point performance of the season on Wednesday in an 86-76 victory over the Phoenix Mercury. She scored 21 points in 31 minutes while shooting 8-for-10 from the field and 5-for-8 from the free-throw line. The veteran forward also added five rebounds, two assists and a steal.

She followed that performance with another double-figure scoring effort on Sunday as Las Vegas earned a 92-73 victory over the Golden State Valkyries. Smith added three rebounds, one assist and one block in the win.

Isabelle Harrison

Isabelle Harrison continued her strong return to play in Week 7, extending her double-figure scoring streak to four consecutive games after getting a late start to the season due to injury.

The veteran forward posted her first double-double and first 20-point performance of the season on Monday, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds in Toronto’s 94-87 loss to the Atlanta Dream. Harrison shot 7-for-16 from the field and added two assists, one steal and one block.

That performance followed a 15-point outing in Toronto’s 101-97 road victory over the Connecticut Sun on Friday. She added six rebounds and five assists as the Tempo earned the four-point win.

Kaitlyn Chen

Kaitlyn Chen continued to make an impact for the Golden State Valkyries during Week 7 while recording a pair of double-figure scoring performances.

The rookie guard scored 15 points in Golden State’s 91-80 victory over the Dallas Wings on Wednesday. Chen shot 7-for-10 from the field and was successful on 50 percent of her attempts from three-point range while adding two rebounds, two assists and a steal in 25 minutes of action.

She added another 11 points on Sunday versus the Aces, finishing 4-for-8 from the field while contributing two rebounds and two assists. Although Golden State fell in the 92-73 loss, Chen’s performance marked her second double-figure scoring effort of the week.
