Sydney Colson to Join Luka Doncic for "Future of Sports" Summit
Veteran guard Sydney Colson may be in the midst of her fourth Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball season, but that won’t keep the two-time WNBA champion from doing her part off the court to improve basketball as we know it in the United States. Colson will join five-time NBA All-Star Luka Dončić for The Future of Sports, a conversation on the future of basketball, hosted by the Aspen Institute Sports & Society Program.
The summit, set for Thursday, Feb. 13, will compare U.S. and European basketball training systems and explore ways to elevate American grassroots basketball.
Dončić, who took his career from Slovenia to Dallas, Texas, and now to his newest landing spot with the Los Angeles Lakers, is the founder of the Luka Dončić Foundation – an organization designed to foster connections between cultures and empower youth through the game of basketball. He will share his insight on which European training techniques could positively impact young American players.
Colson and Dončić will be joined by Lara Beth Seager (executive director, Luka Dončić Foundation), Bill Duffy (head of basketball, WME Sports), Jeremy Goldberg (president, LeagueApps), and Craig Robinson (executive director, National Association of Basketball Coaches). Aspen Institute Sports & Society Program executive director Tom Farrey will moderate the discussion.
Along with her fellow participants in Thursday’s event, Colson will become one of the many sports leaders who have gathered for The Future of Sports since 2018 to discuss some of the most pressing matters in the sports world.

Colson will also be back in action on the court this week for Team Nurse, starting Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 10:30 a.m. local time, when the team faces Team Siegrist at Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
