Biography
Personal: Knight majored in public health at Florida Gulf Coast and aspires to be a food critic if she wasn't playing basketball. She attributes her growth to her AAU coach, Boo Williams, and enjoys hobbies like dancing, exploring food, collecting sneakers, engaging with technology, and go-kart racing. Her childhood involved activities such as dance, gymnastics, and playing the piano.
2023 Season: In her debut season with AU Pro Basketball, Whitney Knight garnered 2,386 leaderboard points. She made history as the first player to consistently wear the Gold jersey throughout the entire five-week campaign, appearing in seven games off the bench. Knight showcased her skills with season highs of four points and six rebounds against Team Sims in the Week One finale. Additionally, she grabbed five rebounds against Team Smith in Week Three.
Other Professional Experience: Knight made her professional debut after being selected as the No. 15 overall pick by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2016 WNBA Draft. Notably, she became the first Florida Gulf Coast player to be drafted into the WNBA. During the 2016 season, Knight played seven games with the Sparks and three contests with San Antonio.
College Experience: At Florida Gulf Coast University, Knight excelled as a four-year letterwinner, starting 97-of-130 games from 2011-16. Her accomplishments include being one of two players in program history to earn First-Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference honors three times and being named ASUN Player of the Year in her junior and senior years. She holds multiple program records, including seven career conference Player of the Week selections, 333 career blocked shots (a program record), and the second-highest scorer in program history with 1,574 career points. Knight's versatility was evident, as she led the ASUN in blocked shots and three-pointers during the 2014-15 season.
