Week One of the Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball season was ruled by pitching performances and breakout moments for the 2024 rookies. The upcoming week of games will feature new faces in all four captains’ positions.

Here’s how the Week One teams performed:

  • Team Denham: 3-1 record; 320 Win Points
  • Team Romero: 2-1 record; 230 Win Points
  • Team Svekis: 1-2 record; 100 Win Points
  • Team Alexander: 0-3 record; 70 Win Points

Nearly untouchable

Rookie pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl needed no time to settle in as a pro. She opened the season on Friday night with a complete game, giving up a sole run. She replicated that work on Sunday but did herself one better, allowing zero runs, just four hits, and throwing 90 pitches. She earned MVP 1 honors for both performances, accrued the most stat points of any athlete, and took over the top spot on the leaderboard.

Longtime pro, first-time captain

Taylor McQuillin has a particular prowess for managing the pitching staff for her captains but now she made the selections herself at the draft as the Orange team captain. After Week One she holds a 2-0 record and a 0.88 ERA through eight innings of work. She’s second in the league with nine strikeouts.

Chomping up the competition

Florida Gators Amanda Lorenz and Skylar Wallace not only have their alma mater in common but also accumulated identical leaderboard points. Lorenz was Team Denham’s hottest hitter going 4-for-11 at the plate with a home run and three runs batted in. Wallace’s first pro homer could not have been more exciting, launching a grand slam on Sunday. Both athletes also earned MVP 1 honors throughout the week.
