Recap: Team Lorenz Overcomes Early Deficit for 6-3 Victory Over Team McQuillin
ROSEMONT, Ill. — Corner infielder Tori Vidales and middle infielder Anissa Urtez each collected two hits and pitcher Aleshia Ocasio earned her third straight victory in the circle as Team Lorenz battled back for a 6-3 victory over Team McQuillin to complete Saturday’s Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball Championship Season doubleheader at Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
Vidales, who garnered MVP 1 honors, registered a season-high 210 leaderboard points after going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two runs batted in.
Urtez, meanwhile, collected MVP 2 accolades and 160 leaderboard points following a 2-for-3 effort with two runs batted in. Outfielder Aliyah Andrews completed the MVP sweep with an MVP 3 commendation after scoring a run and driving in a run.
Ocasio ran her record to 3-0 after giving up two runs, including one earned run, on three hits with three strikeouts over 4.0 innings. Kathryn Sandercock secured her third save of the campaign after throwing a perfect seventh inning with a strikeout.
Three different players recorded a hit in the loss for Team McQuillin. Captain Taylor McQuillin (3-2) was saddled with the loss after conceding five runs on four hits in 2.2 innings with one strikeout.
KEY MOMENT
After falling behind by a 2-0 margin in the opening inning, Team Lorenz countered by scoring six runs over the next three frames to take a 6-2 lead it did not relinquish. The squad plated three runs in the second inning, including a two-run single by Urtez, before adding a two-run home run by Vidales in the third inning. Captain Amanda Lorenz upped the margin to 6-2 with a RBI single in the fourth inning.
LEADERBOARD IMPACT
Vidales’ 210-point effort elevated her 10 spots on the leaderboard, putting her into fourth place with 800 points. Outfielder Amanda Lorenz continues to hold the top spot in the league standings with 900 points.

Teams are now 1-for-13 in captain’s challenges through 14 completed games this season … Team McQuillin initiated a captain’s challenge on an out call made on a fielder’s choice by outfielder Morgan Zerkle with two outs in the top of the fourth inning … The challenge was unsuccessful after the call was upheld.

Sandercock, who owns a league-record six saves in her AU Pro Softball career, has matched her own single-season record with three saves this season … Rachel Garcia had three saves in 2022 before Sandercock equaled the mark with three saves in 2023.
