Recap: Strong Start and Late Comeback Lift Team Mitchell to 101-95 Victory
DALLAS — Guard Tiffany Mitchell and forward Maddy Siegrist combined for 59 points and 18 rebounds as Team Mitchell held off a late challenge from Team Cloud to secure a 101-95 victory to begin Week Two of the 2024 Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball season at Fair Park Coliseum on Thursday night.
Mitchell, making her debut as an Athletes Unlimited captain, earned MVP 1 distinction and 599 leaderboard points after tallying a game-high 29 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field and a 5-for-7 effort at the free throw line. The former South Carolina standout also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out seven assists.
Siegrist, meanwhile, notched her league-leading third double-double of the season to collect MVP 2 accolades. She poured in a season-high 28 points after making 12-of-18 field goal attempts and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to collect 561 leaderboard points.
Guard/forward Angel McCoughtry added a season-best 19 points with seven rebounds, making 9-of-17 field goal attempts.
Guard Natasha Cloud paced Team Cloud in the loss with a season-high 29 points and 12 assists, earning MVP 3 recognition and 538 leaderboard points. She also matched the Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball single-game record by sinking six three-pointers in eight attempts.
Guard Lexie Brown added an Athletes Unlimited career-high 22 points, including an 11-for-13 performance from the charity stripe, while guard/forward Ty Young chipped in 15 points in the setback.
KEY MOMENT
Team Cloud took its only lead of the game at 69-68 with 3:32 left in the third quarter, but Team Mitchell responded with a 20-5 outburst over the next six minutes to reclaim the advantage, which it did not relinquish. Siegrist and Mitchell combined to score 15 of the squad’s points in the rally.
LEADERBOARD IMPACT
Mitchell took over the top spot on the leaderboard with 2,294 points, while Siegrist rose seven positions and stands fourth in the league standings pending the result of Thursday’s second game between Team Gray and Team Sims. Brown also made a 10-position improvement on the leaderboard in the loss, elevating to 11th place among the league’s 40 players.

Team Cloud initiated a captain’s challenge with 5:43 remaining in the fourth quarter on an offensive foul against center Adut Bulgak, which was unsuccessful … Teams are now 3-for-8 in captain’s challenges this season.

Team Mitchell became the first team to lose three quarters and still win the game since March 25, 2023, when Team Hillmon dropped three quarters but still defeated Team Harrison, 75-70.
