SPARKS, Md. — After flying under the radar for the first half of the 2023 Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse season, attacker Kylie Ohlmiller has announced her presence with authority in the last five outings, including Thursday’s contest at USA Lacrosse Headquarters.
Ohlmiller matched the league’s single-game goals record with six tallies, including four in the opening 20 minutes, as Team Moreno cruised to a 13-7 victory over Team Glynn to complete the opening night of Week Four.
The former Stony Brook standout, who also added an assist in the victory, closed the night with a career-high 234 leaderboard points after securing MVP 1 distinction.
Attacker Izzy McMahon contributed a three-goal performance for Team Moreno, including a pair of markers in the first half, to claim MVP 2 recognition and 183 leaderboard points. Goalkeeper Taylor Moreno chipped in 12 saves, including six in each half, as Team Moreno limited Team Glynn to two or fewer goals in each quarter to complete the win points sweep.
Rookie attacker Livy Rosenzweig fashioned the first hat trick of her professional career with four goals in the loss for Team Glynn in addition to a game-high seven draw controls. Attacker Sam Geiersbach added a pair of goals in the setback.
KEY MOMENT
Ohlmiller scored three of her six goals during a six-goal outburst by Team Moreno in the second quarter, allowing the squad to pull away for a 10-4 lead at the break. Two of those goals came during a five-goal run that spanned seven minutes during the frame.
LEADERBOARD IMPACT
Ohlmiller’s 234-point explosion on Thursday night allowed her to rise 13 spots on the leaderboard, while Moreno climbed back into the top position with a 37-point advantage over attacker Sam Apuzzo entering Saturday’s action.
