Recap: Odyssey Sims Records Second Triple-Double in AU Pro Basketball History
Team Sims defeats Team Mitchell, 116-79
DALLAS — Guard Odyssey Sims registered the second triple-double in Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball history and guard Kierstan Bell added a game-high 26 points as Team Sims capped a perfect 3-0 week with a 116-79 rout of Team Mitchell to begin Sunday’s doubleheader at Fair Park Coliseum.
While Team Sims ended the week with its three victories, Team Mitchell suffered its third loss in a row to fall to 3-0 for the week.
Sims, who earned MVP 2 honors for her record-setting effort, was one of four 20-point scorers on her team after netting 21 points with 12 assists and 10 rebounds. The former Baylor standout ended the afternoon with a game-high 772 leaderboard points.
Bell, meanwhile, was named the game’s MVP 1 recipient after making 10-of-20 shots from the field, including a 3-for-9 effort from beyond the arc, and added seven rebounds en route to a career-high 698 leaderboard points.
Guard/forward Ty Young came off the bench to contribute a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds, making 10-of-18 field goal attempts and collecting a career-high 621 leaderboard points.
Guard Tiffany Mitchell paced her squad in the loss with 24 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the floor, while forward Maddy Siegrist and guard Zia Cooke chipped in 17 points apiece.
KEY MOMENT
After allowing the game’s first five points in the opening 53 seconds, Team Sims surged ahead with a 39-3 run over a nine-minute span to take a commanding 39-9 lead with 9:35 remaining in the first half. Bell and Sims combined for 24 points during the outburst as Team Sims never trailed from that point.
LEADERBOARD IMPACT
Sims moved into second place on the leaderboard with her third game of 600 or more leaderboard points this season. Bell, meanwhile, rose into fourth place in the league standings and holds a 119-point advantage over guard Air Hearn heading into Sunday’s Week Three finale between Team Cloud and Team Gray.
