Recap: Strong Second Half Leads Team Glynn over Team Apuzzo, 13-12
Maggi Hall records four goals in her professional debut
Team Glynn starts Week One with a 1-0 record, while Team Apuzzo falls to 0-1.
Hall’s four goals, including a two-point marker late in the contest, helped her claim MVP 1 honors and 204 leaderboard points in her first game in an AU Pro Lacrosse jersey. The former Florida standout also added an assist and a ground ball.
Midfielder Ally Mastroianni claimed MVP 2 laurels and collected 195 leaderboard points as she scored a pair of goals, including a two-point strike, with an assist and a game-high eight draw controls.
Team captain Kady Glynn rounded out the MVP sweep for her squad as the netminder earned MVP 3 honors following a 13-save performance with a caused turnover and a ground ball.
Midfielders Amy Moreau and Katie O’Donnell added two-goal performances for Team Glynn, which outscored Team Apuzzo by a 7-3 count after the intermission.
Team Apuzzo received a four-goal effort from attacker Charlotte North and a three-goal outing from captain Sam Apuzzo. Three other players scored a goal in the loss for Team Apuzzo.
Goalkeeper Caylee Waters stopped a pair of shots for Team Apuzzo in the first half before rookie Emily Sterling made five saves in the second half.
KEY MOMENT
Hall netted a two-point goal with 8:08 remaining in the final frame to give Team Glynn an 11-10 advantage. Team Apuzzo reclaimed the advantage with back-to-back markers from Kailyn Hart and North before a pair of scores from Hall and O’Donnell gave Team Glynn the one-point victory.
LEADERBOARD IMPACT
Hall claimed 204 leaderboard points to take the top spot in the standings after the season’s first contest. Mastroianni sits in second place with 195 points, while Glynn tallied 163 points to stand third in the league standings.
