Marie McCool signs for fourth season with AU Pro Lacrosse
McCool enters her fourth campaign with the league after posting a season-best seventh finish on the 2023 leaderboard with 1,192 points. She scored 20 goals with seven assists and 30 draw controls. She is the AU Pro Lacrosse career leader in draw controls with 128.
McCool is tied for seventh in Team USA history with 32 career goals at the World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship and helped the team to a gold medal in 2022. She also played for the gold medal-winning Team USA at the 2017 World Cup as one of only two collegiate players on the roster.
At the University of North Carolina, McCool tallied 183 career goals with 63 assists and is one of two players in program history to be named a Tewaaraton Award finalist twice. She was named 2018 IWLCA National Midfielder of the Year and two-time Atlantic Coast Conference Midfielder of the Year. She ranks fifth on North Carolina’s career goals and points lists and set the Tar Heel single-season record with 165 draw controls as a senior.
