Lauren Stivrins stars in pro debut victory with Team De La Cruz

DALLAS — Team De La Cruz secured its first victory of the opening week after edging Team McClendon by a 68-59 count on Wednesday night inside Fair Park Coliseum. The squad claimed the first set by a 25-13 margin before Team McClendon rebounded with a 25-18 victory in the second set. Team De La Cruz sealed the verdict with a 25-21 margin in the final set.

MATCH NOTES

Outside hitter Dani Drews led all players with 10 kills in the loss for Team McClendon … The former Utah standout also chipped in seven digs and two blocks.
Team De La Cruz setter Val Nichol authored her first double-double of the season after finishing with 28 assists and 13 digs.
Team McClendon setter Natalia Valentin-Anderson also registered a double-double in the match … Valentin-Anderson posted a match-high 29 assists with 16 digs.
Middle blocker Lauren Stivrins tallied a match-high four blocks in addition to securing eight kills and three service aces.
Team De La Cruz opposite hitter Sheilla Castro nearly earned a double-double with eight kills and nine digs.
