Clemson’s Valerie Cagle Signs for AU Pro Softball Season 5

Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball has signed pitcher Valerie Cagle for the 2024 Championship season.

Cagle was the No. 1 pick of the 2024 AU Pro Softball College Draft after five seasons at Clemson. She was a two-way player with a 1.72 career ERA and .379 batting average. She hit 66 home runs and drove in 224 RBIs over 243 games.

In the circle, Cagle struck out 819 batters in 756.1 innings and tossed 79 complete games with 28 shutouts. She is Clemson’s all-time leader in games played, games started, batting average, at-bats, hits, doubles, home runs, runs batted in, total bases, and walks, in addition to wins, saves, appearances, complete games, shutouts, innings, and strikeouts.

In 2023, she received USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, D1Softball Player of the Year, and the Rawlings Gold Glove Award.

She was the first player in ACC history to earn Freshman of the Year and either Player of the Year or Pitcher of the Year honors in the same season in 2021. She is a four-time NFCA All-American, including three First-Team nods, and was named ACC Player of the Year in 2021 and 2023. 

Cagle was named to the Team USA roster for the 2024 Japan All-Star Series after previously competing in the 2023 Japan All-Star Series.
