Two staples of Athletes Unlimited Softball, Erika Piancastelli and Gwen Svekis are signed to compete in the 2023 Championship Season. Both catchers have competed with the league since its inception and will return for Season 4 in Rosemont among their international schedules.

Piancastelli is a 2020 AU Softball medalist and catcher from Modena, Italy. She has been a member of the Italian National Team since 2015 and competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

She’s in the AU Softball record books tied with two other athletes for the single-season home run record with nine. She has a career slugging percentage of .657% and has hit 15 home runs total in her three seasons with the league. Piancastelli hit the third grand slam in Championship Season history on Aug. 7 in 2022, the first grand slam in a game since the one she belted in 2021.

Svekis has finished in the top 15 on the leaderboard in all three seasons competing with the league. Her highest ranking was in 2020 when she finished in fifth. She has a career batting average of .299 with 40 hits and 28 RBIs in 134 at-bats. She was also selected to the 2021 All-Defensive Team.

Svekis joined Team USA in 2022 and will compete again for the red, white, and blue at the WBSC World Cup in Dublin, Ireland in July. Svekis is also a member of the Toda Medics in the Japan Diamond Softball League.

Athletes Unlimited Softball returns to Rosemont, Ill. at Parkway Bank Sports Complex for its fourth Championship season beginning July 28. Tickets are on sale now.
