Athletes Unlimited Pro Volleyball players and coaches teamed up with former U.S. sitting volleyball Paralympian and Omaha native Brent Rasmussen to host the “Everybody Can Play” Clinic on Friday, October 10, at Banzai Volleyball Club.

The event welcomed 60 children and adults with disabilities for a morning filled with volleyball fundamentals, laughter, and teamwork. Participants learned both standing and sitting volleyball skills, celebrating the many ways the sport can be played and enjoyed.

“It’s wonderful,” said Rasmussen. “We’ve got an opportunity to partner with AU and come out here today to show other forms of volleyball to the community. A lot of people know the standing game very well, but they’re not as familiar with sitting volleyball. It’s nice when athletes that are playing here come out and we get to meet them, be friends, and just play a sport that we love together.”

Athletes Unlimited pros Dani Drews, Brittany Abercrombie, Morgan Hentz, Sydney Hilley, Claire Hoffman, Marlie Monserez, Annayka Legros, Maddie Haynes, and Tessa Grubbs joined Director of Volleyball Cassidy Lichtman and Coach Alisha Glass Childress in leading drills and cheering on participants.

“My favorite part about today is just getting to connect with all of the players and athletes here,” Drews said. “It’s so much fun to make them laugh and smile and be out on the court with them. It’s amazing.”
