Captains Amanda LorenzLexi KilfoylTaylor McQuillin and Sashel Palacios selected their teams for the third week of the 2024 Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball Championship Season during Monday’s draft.

The four teams begin the Week Three schedule on Wednesday, August 7, with the AU Pro Games at the Little League Softball® World Series at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium in Greenville, North Carolina. Team McQuillin and Team Kilfoyl open the day’s activities with a 5 p.m. ET contest, before Team Lorenz and Team Palacios square off in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Here is a list of notes and tidbits related to the AU Pro Softball Week Three draft.

  • Catcher Sashel Palacios is serving as a captain for the first time in her Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball career, becoming the 38th different player to fill the role in Championship Season history … Palacios also stands as the sixth catcher to be a captain in the league’s five-year history.
  • Palacios is wearing the Purple jersey for the seventh time in her AU Pro Softball Championship Season career, including the second week in a row … She has worn the Purple and Orange jerseys seven times apiece in her career, which are the most of the four jersey colors.
  • Pitchers Lexi Kilfoyl and Taylor McQuillin and outfielder Amanda Lorenz are entering their second weeks as team captains.
  • Lorenz is wearing the Gold jersey for just the third time in her AU Pro Softball Championship Season career … It is the first time she has donned the Gold top since Week One of the 2022 season.
  • McQuillin will be wearing the Blue jersey for the eighth time in her AU Pro Softball Championship Season career, the most of any jersey color … However, it is just the second time in the last three seasons she has been a member of the Blue squad after wearing the jersey six times in the first two years.
  • No player has worn the same jersey color in all three weeks this season.
  • Outfielder Victoria Hayward and catcher Gwen Svekis made the largest positive moves up the draft order in Monday’s Week Three proceedings, elevating 20 spots in the selection process … Hayward, who was taken 39th overall last week, was selected with the No. 19 overall pick by Team Kilfoyl … Svekis, meanwhile, was the No. 2 overall selection by Team McQuillin on Monday after going in the sixth round in Week Two.
  • Pitcher Odicci Alexander will be wearing the Gold jersey for the 10th time in her 18 career Championship Season weeks, including the second time in three weeks this season … Alexander is now tied with catcher Dejah Mulipola for the most weeks wearing the Gold jersey in Championship Season history … Mulipola donned the Gold jersey 10 times in 15 career weeks from 2021-23.
  • Middle infielder Aubrey Leach and pitcher Aleshia Ocasio also made significant jumps in the draft selections, rising 19 and 18 positions, respectively … Leach was the final pick in the fourth round by Team Palacios after being the No. 35 overall choice last week … Ocasio was the first selection in the second round by Team Lorenz on Monday following a selection in the sixth round in Week Two.
  • Pitchers Rachel Garcia and Sarah Willis saw the largest drop in the draft order on Monday after falling 22 positions … Garcia, who was the fourth overall pick in Week Two, was chosen by Team McQuillin in the seventh round on Monday … Willis, who was picked by Team Wallace in the second round last week, dropped to the No. 30 overall choice by Team Kilfoyl on Monday.
  • Lorenz brought eight of her Week Two teammates onto her Week Three squad, including three of her four pitchers and two of her three middle infielders … Lorenz is also teaming up with outfielder Megan Wiggins and corner infielder Tori Vidales for the third consecutive week.
  • Team Kilfoyl’s Week Three roster will also see a bunch of familiar faces from the Week Two unit with seven of
    captain Lexi Kilfoyl’s teammates remaining on the roster this week.
  • Six of pitcher Taylor McQuillin’s Week Two teammates will join her again in Week Three, including pitcher Alyssa Denham and catcher Gwen Svekis … Denham and outfielder Erika Piancastelli are also teamed up with McQuillin for the third week in a row.
  • Sashel Palacios selected her younger sister, Sharlize, with the final pick of the second round on Monday afternoon … It is the fourth time in AU Pro Softball history where a player has drafted their sister in a weekly draft … Middle infielder Sydney Romero selected her sister, Sierra, in the Week One draft earlier this season after Sierra picked Sydney last season during Week Two … In addition, outfielder Nicole Pendley took her sister, Shelby, in the third round during the inaugural weekly draft in 2020.
  • Sashel Palacios and corner infielder Andrea Filler are teammates for the third week in a row.
  • Filler will be wearing the Purple jersey for the fifth time in the last eight weeks … In 13 career Championship Season weeks, she has been named to the Purple squad seven times.
  • Outfielder Aliyah Andrews is wearing the Gold jersey for the fourth time in five weeks after being selected by Team Kilfoyl on Monday … Andrews has now worn the Gold jersey six times in her 18-week Championship Season career, which is tied with the Purple jersey for the most instances.
  • Pitcher Georgina Corrick is donning the Purple jersey for the third time in the last four weeks.
  • Pitcher Megan Faraimo will be wearing the Purple top for the fourth time in her eight-week Championship Season career, including the second week in a row.
  • Corner infielder Sam Fischer was selected to Team Palacios on Monday, marking her ninth career selection to the Purple team out of 23 Championship Season weekly segments.
  • Middle infielder Kelsey Harshman will be wearing the Gold jersey for just the third time in her AU Pro Softball Championship Season career … She also wore the Gold top in each of the first two weeks last summer.
  • Outfielder Victoria Hayward was selected to the Orange team for just the third time in her AU Pro Softball Championship Season career after being taken by Team Kilfoyl on Monday.
  • Outfielder Haylie McCleney earned her seventh career selection to the Purple team after being taken by Team Palacios in the fifth round on Monday … She has worn the Purple jersey more than any other jersey in her Championship career.
  • Outfielder Erika Piancastelli is wearing the Blue jersey for just the fourth time in her AU Pro Softball career this week after her selection to Team McQuillin on Monday.
  • Corner infielder Jessi Warren has been named to the Blue team for the third time in the last six weeks after not wearing the jersey color in the first 12 weeks of her Championship Season career.
